I'm glad to see The Queens Head continues to meet my expectations. I'm staying at Chez Sims tonight so nobody get in my way at 5:00 am tomorrow.....and I'll need three coffees before I'm likely to speak to anyone so please don't be offended. If anyone else from the South East is getting up at silly o'clock I could be tempted to meet up en route as I haven't really decided which way to go yet.ORIGINAL: Copperman05Good job, dinner finishes at 1930 for anyone that plans to eat. EddORIGINAL: _ian Looks like I'm going to be 630ish. Just leaving London now to pick up car in reading.ORIGINAL: Copperman05 Craig a few of us are going to the Queens Head Hotel in Milton Ernest, no set time to eat, I'll probably turn up between 5-6pm. On the Monday we are eating at the Sharnbrook Hotel for 6pm. Edd

BrilliantORIGINAL: Ewan Saved, just in the nick of time. Mark at JMG pulled out all the stops today. He collected my car from the side of the road where I dumped it yesterday evening and worked on it until it was fixed. It turned out to be some dodgy wiring under the boot carpet - wiring that powers the fuel pump. Anyway, the good news is that it's all sorted and ready for Bedford. Result. So, for those that want to try the JMG race-shift, the offer is back on. And my noisy QP can rest in peace and not scare the scrutineers. See you all on Monday.
Well it's such a shame no one thought to take some ramps with them. [&o] I hope the rest of you had a good day. Beaky had the ignonimy of arriving home on a low loader as, within miles of leaving the circuit and much banging from under the car I concluded that, while the suspected steering UJ's may not be as nice as they should be they weren't the issue. RAC man thought it was the power steering as it was certainly horrible when subjected to significant effort - I wasn't convinced. We removed the power steering belt but the clunk was still evident within 50 yards of driving up the road. 944's do feel quite nice without power steering though....except when manoeuvring them onto a lorry.
I'll get my coat.ORIGINAL: John SimsYes. If there is under the car work to be done you probably shouldn't be thrashing it around a track. Fluids, pressures and perhaps a nut check here and there are all that should be needed.ORIGINAL: jmelhuish ....Im planning to bring a couple of portable ramps with me,........Is this overkill?.......

Just got back. Didn't have my car but thoroughly enjoyed myself. Great to see so many front engines Porsched being tracked. Thanks for organising this Edd and for the ride in your car. If you organise another session, I'll most likely be interested.

Fantastic day, thanks for the rides! [] Given the number of cars there wasn't too much bad driving, and none from the transaxle team that I saw, which is good to see with less experienced people out there. Given how hard the track can be there weren't too many breakages either, a shame for the few that had problems and hope it's all easily fixed! Would love to learn what was going on with Ed's oil filter, that was a mystery. [&o] Good food as well, so thanks to Edd for all the hard work. Seems there was a lot of interest in this becoming an annual event.

I made it home without another oil eruption! I think Tony's suggestion of oprv is a good one - can't think of anything else. wonder if I can fix it before cadwell next week? still a great day though - and seems to be plenty of enthusiasm for more. good to meet old friends and put some faces to new ones []
Edd - thanks for organising and it was great to put some faces to names. That was one of the best track days I have ever done! We should defo make this an annual event! Sorry I didn't make it along for dinner, but after an 05.30 start this morning and a day of spirited driving I felt absolutely knackered and just wanted to head home. Ed - +1 for the OPRV Mick

That was a really fun day, shame that there were a few 944 hiccups [], but sounds like almost everyone has got home safely already. I managed to get about 40 mins of pretty good video whilst I was briefly on track, naturally with lots of 944s in it, I doubt I'll have time to edit it down soon, so might just whack the whole lot on youtube when I get a moment in case anyone's interested.
I've got a 3D version of Beaky so I could composit him in where he should have been.ORIGINAL: Peter Empson That was a really fun day, shame that there were a few 944 hiccups [], but sounds like almost everyone has got home safely already. I think I did have some brief footage of a poorly beaky from the first session, but had to delete it as I was running out of memory, but most of that video was of me trying to start the car without much success (I think my head gasket has had it). Here's a taster of the quality of my videoing (warning, no 944 content), the last 10 mins of one of the sessions is like this throughout!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baq2SEOVos8&feature=youtu.be
Bugger, feel v guilty for badgering you to go in the first place![] hope ity is nothing too expensive!ORIGINAL: John Sims Well it's such a shame no one thought to take some ramps with them. Great day, well done Edd, I'm pretty shattered now though! Dont think I got any decent video -blimmin camera went flat after filmiing the boot yesterday on the way up, will check later. Great to see so many 944's in one place and there were some lovely and interesting examples!
What a brilliant day, well done Ed. 11 out of 10 for my instructor, David Roucka-Brown, by the end of the day he said I was doing "proper racing driver stuff". I'm still grinning now. [] It was great to meet so many new people too and both the Queens Head and the Sharnbrook were terrific. Hope to see you all again soon. James

A bit of gopro footage from my 924s. Had a great day. Had to leave soon after lunch which was a shame as I'd been promised some pax rides in some of your lovely machinery. Next time I hope. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=T7RHp1V6nXw

Fantastic day, must be done again! Enjoyed the spills (Ed) [] the spins (Edd) [] and keeping my P6000's on the track! [] Well done Edd and thanks for all your effort with the day, hotel and evening meal - brilliant
YouTube has this as a private video so I cannot see it - any chance of rectifying or adding me to the private list? Cheers MickORIGINAL: Caymanster A bit of gopro footage from my 924s.
