Track Days

Fantastic news! [:)] See you Monday. I've spent all afternoon tinkering in the workshop and all I've achieved is a clean car and refitted bucket seats. Need to pop back tomorrow to fit the track pads, but the Mrs is already giving me black looks [:-]

Craig a few of us are going to the Queens Head Hotel in Milton Ernest, no set time to eat, I'll probably turn up between 5-6pm. On the Monday we are eating at the Sharnbrook Hotel for 6pm. Edd

It transpires my MOT runs out tomorrow (oh how I laughed) so I'll have to skip the meal to ensure I'm home before Beaky turns into a pumpkin. [:(]

That's a days work on its own. I think it would be quicker to train mice to do up the bolts on mine. They are at a point where they are just possible to do up but you have to get everything to line up 100%. It is 100,000,000 attempts for 1 successful connection.

That's a shame. Is it not possible to book an MOT near your home, and as long as you are driving towards it, even if it's not on that date, then that's ok? I'm sure I read that somewhere once...

Forecast for tomorrow is potential light rain or drizzle drying up in the afternoon and even a little sunshine. Postcode for Bedford Autodrome is MK44 2YP, signing on is from 07:20, briefing at 08:30. A few of us will be at the Queens Head Hotel, Milton Ernest from about 5-6pm this evening if any of you traveling up today want to meet up for dinner, postcode MK44 1RU. After the event for those that are eating, we are going to the Sharnbrook Hotel for 6pm, postcode MK44 1LX, the site has plenty of parking and room for more diners if you are yet to decide to eat. I am told Chris Horton from 911 & Porsche World will be covering our little event and will be looking to speak to a few of you and look at a cross section of our cars (911&PW have their annual meet at The Chequers tomorrow too). After the disappointment of the last attempt hopefully we can all have some fun tomorrow, rain or shine, there should be plenty of opportunity to tyre kick and chat too. Don't forget your driving licence, helmet and cash to pay Javelin. If anyone needs to call me I'm on 07540102071. See you tomorrow! Edd

Cash to pay Javelin...? I had assumed everyone would have paid already. Have I missed something? Worth also remembering long sleeved shirts only (not that we're really into t shirt weather despite the calendar date!) Mick

Eeek! You'll be missed. Surely as long as you are on the road by 9pm you should be home long before midnight.

Eeek indeed. You are right Mr Smith but I'll be leaving at silly o'clock in the morning to get there so I'd probably be a good miss under the circumstances.

Im about to pack the car. Im planning to bring a couple of portable ramps with me, if I have any inclination to look under the car. Is this overkill? is there a pit or ramps to look under the car there?

ORIGINAL: jmelhuish ....Im planning to bring a couple of portable ramps with me,........Is this overkill?.......
Yes. If there is under the car work to be done you probably shouldn't be thrashing it around a track. Fluids, pressures and perhaps a nut check here and there are all that should be needed.

Yes, your right. I was definately over packing and over thinking this. Thanks for the voice of reason. See you tomorrow.

Looks like I'm going to be 630ish. Just leaving London now to pick up car in reading.

The local weather forecast is getting nicer all the time, now it's to be cool and cloudy at first, with occasional drizzle but becoming dry and brighter in the afternoon. I really wish I hadn't sold my slicks and track wheels when I sold the turbo [&o] I really don't enjoy the lack of grip that road tyres have when it's dry

Good job, dinner finishes at 1930 for anyone that plans to eat. Edd

Well I finished my preparation on Beaky today.............about ten minutes after I started. I got in and drove. It seemed to go alright, job's a good'n.
