Good stuff. Where do you mount your camera? You've got a much better set up to mine (which hangs upside down from the roof). I've ordered a roll bar mount, so I'm hoping to have a better set up next time. Re noise. I got black flagged for leaking fuel (I hadn't put my filler cap back on properly , pretty ashamed of that but there was no red flag as a result) and I was then, pretty rudely and over aggressively told my car was too noisy and that I'd been spoken to before numerous times. A bit confused I explained that I had not been spoken to at all and that my car was 91db static so how could I be over 89 moving? This was dismissed out of hand, my noise test sticker taken from my car and I was told that was the end of my day. At this moment someone told the chap (the MSV duty manager from the briefing) that he was talking to the wrong driver! A mumbled apology, better than none, and a quick instruction to go back to noise testing to get another sticker and the chap went off, presumably to repeat the routine, hopefully to the correct car and driver. Anyway, it certainly didn't dampen my enthusiasm for the day and I would have taken it on the chin if I'd have got a talking to for the fuel leak but I was really surprised how rude the manager chap was, especially to tell me I was lying when I pointed out that I hadn't been spoken to about anything previously. I'm sure the guy has seen it all before and has had lots of abuse for telling people they're not welcome on his track anymore but he's in a customer service industry and could do with brushing up on his bedside manner. Anyway, my point is, I wonder if they mistook your car for another too. It doesn't sound loud on the vid at all. (in reply to Masher)ORIGINAL: Masher A bit more footage - sorry I am not yet capable of editing out the pits bit! A bit of 944 action on here. I had to keep my noise down entering the pit straight after being black flagged for noise on lap 2! The instructor thought it was crazy given the car is clearly not too noisy (outside!) and Bedford did say the noise meter can give false positives sometimes! When you watch these videos back you do wonder why you brake so early and since it all looks so effortless you question why you didn't try harder. On the day of course you thought you were at 10:10ths [] Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bbYlz8OraU&feature=youtu.be Cheers Mick
Fair point about the colour. There's no way that your car was over 89 drive by if it was under that static though. That's counter intuitive unless you've got a seriously trick airbox that resonates massively under full load but not at part throttle? Thanks for the advice on the extender bar. My car's harnesses are mounted to the cage so I'll try the camera on that bar next time. ChrisORIGINAL: Masher Mistaken my car for another... I grant you there were a few black cars there but my Riviera Blue 944 sticks out like a sore thumb [] I think they had noise meter problems but if they are constantly under threat from the noise police I understand their needing to warn anyone whenever the meter is tripped. Never an excuse to be rude mind you. Mine was 86db static and whilst the heat shields do rattle I can't see it making 89db on drive by! Ref the Gopro mount - sounds like you've already worked out the solution I use. Assuming your roll cage has a harness bar, that's where to mount it. You need to consider using one of the Gopro 'extension' bars to raise it an inch or two to stop it filming your shoulder. I also bought a non-waterproof housing with no sides on it and a 5m cable so that it is constantly charging. My next issue is I cannot switch it on with the harnesses strapped up so end up with 30 seconds of faffing about at the start of each clip. Must find some editing software! Cheers Mick
Nice vid mate. Looking forward to seeing the car in the flesh at our Porsche day at Donington in August. [] And maybe after this day at Bedford, a few more 944s might be tempted to join us. yes and could have been even worse on the road - but then if you hadn't gone to Bedford Beaky probably would have gone straight to the mot failORIGINAL: John Sims Thanks to all the guys who looked for and pondered Beakys malady with me yesterday. It transpires that the ball joint fell apart, so nothing we could have done had we had ramps or not. Frustratingly it was a modified ball joint so I now need to consider if I shall rebuild the modified version or not. On the plus side I still have my original lower wishbones so at least they can be swapped back in the mean time. I'm pretty relieved now in retrospect considering what could have happened.
ORIGINAL: GlennS There is a gallery of photographs from the day here. http://www.sportpicsuk.com/bedfordtd My apologies to anyone I missed, it was nothing personal. Let me know if you want any copies.
Drop me an email via the forum with the image numbers and I'll sort out the full sized copies for you to download over the next couple of days.ORIGINAL: jmelhuish Glenn, Great pictures. How do I order some? Thanks Jason

Excellent stuff, good smooth considerate driving there. I can now see what you meant about roll, I definitely recommend looking at some 968 M030 arbs or similar, even with standard suspension they will make a big difference. Oh, and I do feel I should add that going three abreast down the straight is not my normal style [], the Boxster had tucked in behind you and only when I was alongside him did he decide to overtake as well, leaving me without much choice but to carry on (my vid has got the same bit on it - should be up tomorrow). I was told I was 0.6db below the static [] but didn't have any problems on drive by, there was no way you were anywhere near loud enough to be a problem.ORIGINAL: Masher A bit more footage - sorry I am not yet capable of editing out the pits bit!
