What's the going rate for an engine rebuild and bodywork repaint/restoration these days?
Change out of £9k for the lot.

Less than I expected. As turbo values have increased since you bought it, worthwhile for a keeper.Change out of £9k for the lot.
Hmm...if paying someone to do the work it would be much more, at least double but perhaps closer to 3 times more.Change out of £9k for the lot.

Maybe that’s Darn Sarf prices but I paid less than £5.5k for engine out, machine work, full rebuild and back in by a garage.Hmm...if paying someone to do the work it would be much more, at least double but perhaps closer to 3 times more.

Only if you say it has to have more than 400 bhp, and be able to whup a GT3 .Hmm...if paying someone to do the work it would be much more, at least double but perhaps closer to 3 times more.

Hi Pete
That total included a £4.4k bill to AMAC for engine works, parts and labour, and £1.5k to my mate for labour for engine removal and refitting as well as a load of other things. £1,850 to the paint shop and about £1,250 on various parts and sundries on top of that. I won a watch with AMAC and the painter and obviously my mate looked after me too!
But yes, I concur, it could have been way more expensive. A lot of good advice on this forum also kept the costs down.

Sorry I just assumed that you would still need to reindex the torsion bars to get it to the height you need, otherwise I could imagine you would be creating tension on the torsion bars in the opposite direction by fitting the coil overs in such a way to raise the height?
I have heard of people removing the torsion bars completely, but as you say these are designed to run with the torsion bars.
Probably worth looking to see if there is an instruction manual for the Spax coil overs.
Found this article about the KW coil overs - https://s3mag.com/kw-coilovers-porsche-944/
So, having read that helpful article (cheers David!) it looks like with me already being re-indexed lower, I should be good to go and my thoughts seem to be backed up!
