Thanks! Yeah, that looks the business as well, its amazing how different it feels. Into reverse before I was nearly over my shoulder, now its just a subtle click and its in. Same into 1st and for all changes. A good upgrade.

The price for mine on the JMG link is wild, but it is a subtly engineered thing that makes a difference.

I'm expecting my Rennbay engine bay fuel line kit soon, get that on and road trips are getting planned with the new Mrs who adores my car. Should have got a trade in sooner............:p
 
Well my old gearbox went for ÂŁ670 on ebay, having paid ÂŁ700 for the new one complete with short shift linkage I can consider that a result! My box was worth every penny of the ÂŁ670 paid. If I was putting my new box on ebay complete with the linkage I'd be asking ÂŁ1.5k for it. So the gamble paid off.

Next up is fitting the Rennbay engine bay fuel lines that have arrived from the states and the rear Spax coilovers a week on Thursday at my mates garage. Had to buy 4 top hat spacers from Spax as the original ones had been scattered on the floor of a scrapyard by a careless grease monkey after parting company with their former friends before I got my hands on them, ÂŁ20, so not the end of the world.

I'm also having to order a new WG diaphragm from Lindsay Racing, if it appears before next Thursday I'll get that done as well.

The lean running issue has been fixed, a blooming sneaky vac hose was the culprit. It did force me however to finally fit the new, correct, plug on the MAF loom and properly sort the other end while I was at it. I've also acquired a new Bosch MAF unit (ÂŁ80) and an almost unused Bosch turbo AFM manufactured in 2019 for the princely sum of ÂŁ35 on ebay. Couldn't quite believe that, very lucky indeed. Always handy to have in case the SciVision chucks it. I called OPC for a gasket, but they are NLA. Asked for price for an AFM while I was on the phone, ÂŁ640 with exchange and over ÂŁ1k with no exchange unit. ÂŁ35 was a much better price! :ROFLMAO:

Then after that I will need to get the geometry set-up as all 4 shocks will have been off as well as a control arm since it was last set-up. I'll see if I can get it lifted a bit when the guys have it.
 
$137.60 for the WG diaphragm plus $51.02 delivery from Linsday Racing, total $188.62. That's an expensive bit of rubber.

I last bought one from them in 2018 and it was $80 for the diaphragm and $40 for delivery. That's a 72% increase on the diaphragm which is quite frankly ridiculous but there are no other suppliers for the part so they have you over a barrel.

I did complain about only getting 6 years from the previous one but that fell on deaf ears! Instead they preferred to insinuate rust or roughness inside the WG itself has likely caused the issue. They may be right. It will get a thorough inspection this time for any such issues. I think I just took it apart and replaced it last time without giving thought to root failure causes for the rubber.

Are you replacing the spring too? I would while its apart, you might also want to consider turning up a shin to improve response. When I rebuilt mine ( details in my thread) I replaced with a new standard spring and fitted (IIRC) a 4.5mm shim. Difficult to tell how much this improved driverbility as I changed so many things but the car was in a different leage in driverbility terms.

Lindsey are just resellers for a lot of the parts on their website, so I'd bet a pound to a penny they buy those diaphragms in for way less. I suppose you're lucky they responded to you though, I've contacted them on 3 different email addresses recently, and got nothing back.

I didn't order a spring, never gave that or a shim any thought. Too late now as my package has left Lindsay already. It was holding boost quite well previously so that will need to do!

He also gave me the lowdown on their chips which I have, and said with UK premium fuel. 99 ron, they will safely fuel up to 22/23 psi of boost. Mine peaks at 21 psi in 5th before dropping to 18 psi so that's well within safe limits for fuelling. I'm probably gonna knock that back a tad when the WG is fixed to peak 20 and drop to 17/18 ish. Probably better long term.
 
Meant to add, yes of course they are making a killing on diaphragms, I hunted high and low to find one last time and came up blank. They are clearly custom made for their WG set-up, and no doubt they have agreed with the supplier not to supply anywhere else. Which is fair enough if you invested time and money creating the WG in the first place. Can't imagine they even pay $10 a pop but what can you do?

In better news I feel ok about the $50 delivery charge now as It will be with me on Monday, plenty of time before I go to my mates garage on Thursday.

In worse news, my handbrake now needs fixed, coming up about 3 clicks more all of a sudden and it's 50/50 whether it will stop you on a hill or not........always something to do!

I'm calling BS on 23 psi being safe, without plenty of supporting mods. Unless you're sticking to UK speed limits.

It's certainly a bold call, the chip set is set-up for 18 psi. I won't be employing 23 psi any time soon once my WG is sorted. Don't want it peaking past 20 psi then holding 18 ish will be fine.
 
I'm not planning to, will dial it back a bit on Thursday when the WG is fixed. 18 psi peak in 5th or thereabouts.
 
I seem to recall the later Promax (Lindsey) chips can run standard or 55lb injectors. I reckon the standard injectors are pretty close to full duty cycle at 18lbs boost. I've found MBC's a bit inconsistent between hot and cold days also.

Yes, correct on all counts. I couldn't get my car to run properly with 55lb injectors, it was the old ones with the resistors, so I sold them to Jon Mitchell who took them off my hands. I had my standard injectors cleaned at that point and was seeing low 11 AFR's at just over 20 psi boost WOT, so they were fueling ok, albeit probably maxed out. I have an uprated fuel pump and using 99 ron adds a bit of safety margin from what info I've been told and have read.

MBC's are inconsistent between hot and cold days, you need an EBC to get on top of that. I'm gonna set mine up on a middle of the road temp day, to peak at 18 psi, so likely be a bit higher on a cold day and a bit lower on a hot day, but stay within safe known parameters.
