what did you do to your 944 today

Edd, we had one of those hire a ramp places for a while up here sadly now gone, a great idea but it was obviously not paying, good to hear no nastiness under there. fitted a new bracket to mine which holds the plug assembly for the turbo waterpump. In my defence it was rather brittle when i managed to break it [:)]

Well yesterday now, but drove another 600miles - roof down of course! mostly A and B roads and passed through 75K

Yesterday I measured the exhaust back pressure on the 944T. Seeing only 1.5 bar past 6k RPM for 1.2 bar of boost. Garrett turbines rock!

Picked this up.

ORIGINAL: robwright Simon if you can get hold of a rack from Elliot, which I imagine you can and provided the cross member for the engine is the same then bring it to mine and we can fit it. If you need to change the cross member too then that's not really a problem. I am equipped to support the engine while it is done. I am assuming your engine still has the bracket for the power steering pump? I can't see that Pixie would have removed it as it is part of the lower balance shaft front cover IIRC. Can't see that she was that thorough as she wasn't about anything else lol [;)] In any case it should be doable in a weekend provided you don't mind roll around on the floor?
Cheers mate. I might take you up on that offer. I actually quite enjoy rolling around under the car[:)] The pump and reservoir are still present. Thankfully for me, it looks like the absolute minimum number of parts were removed to get the rack swapped for the (dodgy) MoT.
Simon is the pipework and the cooler still in place also? If everything is intact then it could be quite an easy job.
Sorry for the rubbish late response...work have sent me away again. [:'(] I'm not sure about the pipework and cooler. I'll have to have a proper look when I get back.

Will you be back for Snetterton Simon?

I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to remove the front bumper ready for some paint. The driver's wing though - OMG! I know that there are three bolts in there somewhere so I'm going to have to start cutting underseal back to even find them. Anyone know if the ABS pump needs to come out or just be released from its mount?

Can be done with pump in place. You need a 10mm socket on a v small 1/4 ratchet..and slim arms etc.jack the car up lie on the floor and hand up from bottom of wing. You just have to pick at the under seal until you find the bolts. One at top one in middle and one at bottom.. simple but really frustrating job.

Done it! Top and bottom weren't too bad once I'd chiselled the underseal off. For the middle bolt I removed the plastic deflector plate behind the ABS pump and the indicator. Then I could chisel the remaining underseal from round the middle bolt and get a long extension bar between the pump and the brake lines. What a palaver!

Gave my LSD and ABS a good testing at Oulton Park, wore my brake pads and my tyres a little aswell, took Mike P for a spin, and Paz of here bought me a bacon sarnie,a good day[:)]

It was pretty quiet on track today, except for Mad Pete's and MarkK's cars. Food at Oulton was pretty good today, lovely fry-up for brekkie and a tasty pasta for lunch [8D] Some pics of Big Red . . .

Glad you enjoyed Mike[:)] Maybe another time if it's dry I can let rip a bit more if you like[:D] Was deffo a bit slippery!!!!

ORIGINAL: MarkK Looks quite Squat in the first pic eh!?
Well, it should, it's not very tall to start with and it's right at the bottom of the dip before the start [:)] In the other one it looks taller only 'cos it's heeled over as far as it can go away from the camera. And I'd love a trip in the dry!
