what did you do to your 944 today

This weekend I fitted my car with EGT sensing, android interface and adjusted the caster after spending ages getting one of the pins moving properly! Also pulled out the threads on one of the rear wishbone mount bolts so had to drill it out and re-tap with a larger bolt! Loving having an android interface to my DME:

ORIGINAL: 944Scott The only successful things I got done today was to replace the bonnet struts, fit the amp adaptor to the back of the becker headunit and repair part of the plastic frame of the centre console.
And its not even noon yet! Good work mate...... Im eating breakfast in bed......is it light yet?
Lol Today I just unwrapped some goodies the postman delivered to me.

Put it back on the floor for the first time since re-fitting the engine. I think i might have to change the springs cause it is sitting way low........

Fitted my recently acquired aluminium undertray then realised I couldn't get the car back off the axle stands as the tray prevents jacking on the castor blocks! No wonder most turbo's don't have this tray fitted! I was able to get the jack onto the wishbone itself after a quick assessment of what was available. Not sure if it's safe to jack there or if I'm risking bending the wishbones! Maybe someone can enlighten me. The joys of a decked turbo with a full compliment of undertrays fitted! If consensus is that jacking on the wishbones is bad I will chop a square out the tray to allow jacking on the castor block again. I'm curious to see the effect of this 3rd tray as JMG reckons it helps keep the nose of the car down at speeds above 80 mph and to be fair it has a couple of snazzy end plates on it like an F1 front wing!! We'll see! Stuart

I still jack from the middle and its enough to lift the front and rear, jack goes under no problem with the car being lowered. My aliminium tray is still present [;)]

I would suggest investing in a heavy duty lift jack. I have spent quite an amount of time painfully moving my 6"3 carcass under 944s sitting on jack stands to justify one, so bought a large one that is low enough and will lift the car 75cm high in no time. My back will be forever thankful. Today I changed the engine oil on the 944T and took it out for a quick blast, enjoying dry roads before it snows again tonight... Always impressed by how much negative temps improve the performance!

Picked my first 944 up today! Got a problem that it won't start though so that could be fun lol. DME relay seems fine and so do the plugs. No spark. Injectors aren't firing but fuel is being pumped. Anyone got any ideas? Got to check power to the relay still but it's too damn cold out there this evening

Fitted new LCD display on clock. Available from Alastair on the forum as a kit. Went well, fiddly rather than hard. Clock working perfectly, hopefully for another 20 years Ian

ORIGINAL: A9XXC Congrats on the new motor.....Does the tacho bounce when it turns over?
No it doesn't, I've checked the wiring to the plug above the bell housing and it all looks fine

It always loos right on my 2.7l, but it needs a spirited wiggle sometimes. After that Id be looking at the crank sensor, which isnt too expensive and they do fail (in fact the CS on my car failed the week before I bought it).

Removed modern stereo and retro fitted original Panasonic CQ-F35 which according to the 1990 Porsche price list was standard equipment. [:D]

Nice, looks very original, I must admit I keep looking at my Halfords special and think, naff! Your one looks like it should just, be there. Obviously you have some clever box of tricks which enables all your cd's and your Ipod, Ipad, mobile phone to be wedged into the cassette slot with force and magicaly play!! Wonders of technology. Ian

Looks good Paul, I have a slightly later Clarion in mine and whilst its not OEM its certianly period and looks the part, the neon modern units look so out of place imo, but then I'm a bit anal like that...[:D] Edd
