It's easier than that Ian, the stereo has an input socket on the front so using the correct cable all modern iPods/iPhones etc simply plug and play, not bad for a 1990 stereo.ORIGINAL: bumperblue Obviously you have some clever box of tricks which enables all your cd's and your Ipod, Ipad, mobile phone to be wedged into the cassette slot with force and magicaly play!! Wonders of technology. Ian

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'll still get no tacho bounce with a broken crank sensor?ORIGINAL: 944 man It always loos right on my 2.7l, but it needs a spirited wiggle sometimes. After that Id be looking at the crank sensor, which isnt too expensive and they do fail (in fact the CS on my car failed the week before I bought it).
The tacho wont bounce if the sensor has failed, try swapping the two plugs over & check if it bounces. That'll answer if you need a to replace the sensor. I'd doubt if both sensors will have failed at once but if you still have no joy the gap may be too big which wont allow a signal to be detected.

Went to let the car run for a little while, while it is in hibernation in the garage and found the battery to be flat, bugger! Removed the battery and put it on charge, this is a blessing in disguise as I found the boot carpet was soaked. The car had been outside for a month because the garage was being used by my daughter as a temporary storage facility while she moved into her flat. The frame has come away from the rear screen, causing a massive amount of moisture, hence the wet carpet. I have got a replacement being supplied and fitted at Nickson Motorsport, as soon as he has a free Saturday. The wife's not to keen on an airing cupboard full of boot mats, but needs must []

Cheers Glenn, we've been using this and You Tube videos all night lol The car has pressure at the rail, doesn't have a spark and the injectors aren't firing. Tacho isn't bouncing either. Followed a guide on checking the reference sensor and speed sensor using pins on the plug that connects to the DME which gave back good readings! The relay is working fine so only thing really left is ECU? Going to get it checked this weekend if I can get it to a company local. If anyone has any input that would be great incase we've missed something dramatic! Not used to 944's only know a 20xe (vaux engine) inside outORIGINAL: GlennSYou might find this page very helpful in diagnosing / fixing 944 starting issues. http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/ts-01.htmORIGINAL: DarrylHCorrect me if I'm wrong but I'll still get no tacho bounce with a broken crank sensor?ORIGINAL: 944 man It always loos right on my 2.7l, but it needs a spirited wiggle sometimes. spent about 3hours cleaning the interior, still needs everything re-done again at some point and the seats needing a shampoo imo, spent a bit of time shouting at my headunit as it wont remember anything and resets everytime the key is removed. Also fitted a "new" crest to the main key as it was missing and found dad now useless spare 924s key which had one so pulled it out and glued it into my key, see how long it lasts

Have you got your postive connections round the right way? sounds like one of them needs a constant 12v feed.ORIGINAL: WBray spent about 3hours cleaning the interior, still needs everything re-done again at some point and the seats needing a shampoo imo, spent a bit of time shouting at my headunit as it wont remember anything and resets everytime the key is removed. Im not sure there was a bit of a butcher of wires choclate blocked and connected to a cd player which i think remembered everything (though not 100% sure as it only lasted the journey home), but those connections fitted straight into my headunit. Though i really dont know what im doing when it comes to wires. The headunit had the same problem when i put it in my astra though cant remember how i sorted it :/ORIGINAL: 944ScottHave you got your postive connections round the right way? sounds like one of them needs a constant 12v feed.ORIGINAL: WBray spent about 3hours cleaning the interior, still needs everything re-done again at some point and the seats needing a shampoo imo, spent a bit of time shouting at my headunit as it wont remember anything and resets everytime the key is removed.
