what did you do to your 944 today

You probably have a red positive and a yellow positive one of which should be connected to a constant 12v feed if this is the case swap these two wires round then it should hold all the stored settings when you switch the ignition off.

ORIGINAL: GlennS Brushed several inches of snow off the beasty as it is outside and looking forlorn after coming back from the garage on Thursday. At the garage it got a new clutch had some corroded fuel lines replaced a replacement for split drive shaft boot replaced a worn gear selector joint both gearbox driveshaft seals replaced gear selector shaft oil seal replaced gearbox input shaft seal replaced and a new reference sensor shield fitted. Fun, fun, fun...
Glad to hear you're sticking with her Glenn!

Take him for a spin, he'll soon change his mind [:)]

Off to R24 Xmas lunch [:D] so brushed the snow off the 944 but decided against driving it to Bedford as it is coming down again! [&:]

Swapped the springs back to standard as the eibach ones I put on were way to low. Now looks like it sitting on stilts.

ORIGINAL: DarrylH Taken the speed and reference sensors off today with my step dad. What a pain they are!!
I seem to remember the AA man swearing rather a lot about the one on the S2... so is it running yet?

At 7am this morning I cleared 9" of snow off the Beast. I also learned that if you let the car run for 20 minutes in the evening, that there will be 2" of solid ice coating your bonnet in the morning! This evening I will make a concerted efforrt to clear a path to my garage...

My life has had more than its fair share of daftness. Today I added to it by going out to the 944, clearing the snow off and then washing it, whilst up to my ankles in snow and slithering around on compacted ice.

Took us 3 hours to get them out in the end, definitely not moved since the factory floor!! We've got one sensor in but waiting on the other to arrive, should be here tomorrow then we can try it [:D]

Did you happen to try it with just the one sensor replaced? Just a thought. Hope you get sorted soon and it is something silly so you can enjoy it. Alan.

We cranked it to see if the tacho bounced but it didn't so assumed you'd need both in anyway?

I meant with the other (old) one back in place, or was it not worth the agro getting it back in? Alan.

They wouldn't come out the housing so we had to take the whole housing out and hammer them out so they were only fit for the bin. It's like they had cold welded themselves in! Got the gap clearance done on the new sensor just waiting for the other one to arrive. Not a massive biggy if it doesn't work as I'll know they have now been changed just took a lot longer than we thought it would
