what did you do to your 944 today

Aaaargghhh!!! CF door cards arrived today - very light indeed!

BUT . . . The finish is appalling, pooled lacquer in the corners and the carbon hasn't been sucked into the corners properly:

And in some places there are air bubbles where the lacquer is completely missing :(

At first I thought that it was a plastic sheet to protect the finish but it doesn't seem to be :(

I'll be giving them a call in the morning put it that way! Maybe I should've gone for the fibreglass ones at half the price after all.

Where did you get the CF door cards from???I had some on my turbo racecar, they weren't perfect but a teeny bit better than the bits you point out maybe?Hopefully they will be cool and swap them..

Hi Mark, they're from the same place that supplies the people who fitted yours. (Am trying to avoid naming and shaming until I've spoken to them in the morning). If they're all going to be this crap then I might as well go for the GRP ones. I'm going to let a local composites company take a look and give me an opinion too.

Dave, speak to Richard. I cant guarantee that he will deal with it to your satisfaction but at least youll be talking to the right man.

Thanks. I spoke to Richard to buy them so hopefully will get sorted. There must be about 10 air bubbles per side as well as the corners.

Ditto!! Nice one Andy. Originals I take it? Had planned some of these for the turbo but love the teledials now too much to let go of them!
To be honest not sure if they are originals, but for £147 with tyres not that bothered [:)]
I hate you even more jealous now! Sounds like you got a proper bargin there man, well done!

Zermatt Silver actually. And that side of the garage had to be tidy as all this is on the other side:

Mind you I do have a bit of a project on my hands now:

But at least my tin foil and masking tape refurbed gauge cluster with its Chinese LED bulbs works:

Collected the car from the garage - had heater valve replaced. Also replaced worn/tired 944 door handles for 968 handles. The 968 handles a a vast improvement IMO.

ORIGINAL: aporschefan Eldavo, you car looks stunning!
Thank you. My last car had a PCGB value of £8k due to the attention to detail on it. This car was viewed by a couple of people on here and not taken any further due to being a bit too rough around the edges. However, it was the perfect base for a project; mechanically sound just needed some time and money spent on the little details. The hours I spent sanding prepping and painting all the interior trim pieces should be testament to how I plan on proceeding :) I think the front looks a lot cleaner for deleting the headlamp washers too (but I would say that wouldn't I).
