what did you do to your 944 today

Monday - Fans staying on on 2.7 - tested thermoswitch - permanently on - left me late for a funeral so had to take it, and pull the relay each stop, ordered replacement. Tuesday - Found replacement brake caliper leaking! Stripped it, had apparently been refurbed for car I had it off, discovered seal had been put in wrong way round - think its now sorted. Picked up new thermoswitch, had to remove tophose, air filter bracket and fan cowling to get access to it but it went in ok. Wednesday - Made replacement bonnet pull mount and washed it! Note - still need some bonnet struts!

Cleaned it! (And replaced a window scraper)

An appearance made this time by another of my cats (you may remember Oli had a go at my cat the last time as the picture did not flatter his waistline). This time it's Tubby's mum Mishka who has just been told for the ninth time not to jump into my nicely cleaned seats! Stuart

Washed 3 cars. Valeted interior of one. Polished the other! Got the sunroof out, or rather Jon did as I can't lift it out [:(] Now - I'm on the look out for wheels again! [:)]

Fiitted the new bonnet struts. Very easy and now my head is safe. Also replaced the offside rear hatch strut and it now rises majestically on the button. As a reward, the car purred, the new suspension felt even better and once more the clock was turned back. Great cars these!

Did mine last night from underneath, much easier (even if I did get a bit wet with coolant). Went on a PistonHeads drive out, 150 miles of the best driving roads in the country through Northumberland, County Durham and Cumbria. Car didn't miss a beat and outhandled some much more expensive metal once it got twisty and a bit damp.

That is sitting low Stuart did you drop it ? MO30 i presume ? Received some new bonnet struts for the black one from Max at Frazerpart............Great Service ! the old ones have given up over winter storage, will be taxing and MOT for april. My Turbo S went for front end repaint on Monday for gravel rash, will be lovely when she comes back, washed the 220 yeterday and took her for a good run in the sun, fitted a Bosch 3 bar FPR and will be fitting LR Chipsets and resprung wastegate shortly.

Hi Jim It is M030 from factory but have Gaz Gold on now and re-indexed at the back. Drove mine to Alasdair's today in Bonnybridge for an impromptu gathering of the Scottish 944 fraternity. Great to see so many like minded people and put some faces to names. Must have been about 10 in total, made it worth getting the car dirty again in the Scottish rain after yesterday's cleaning session! Replaced front fog light bulb whilst there. What a c*nt of a job that is. All four retaining screws corroded, siezed then subsequently snapped as standard! Much swearing and drilling later (and £10 lighter for two H3 bulbs from Halfrauds) all is well again with new screws copper slipped and applied. Halfrauds offered to fit my two bulbs for £12, should have took them up on their kind offer. [8|] Stuart

Good to hear you had a great meet Suart, DO NOT let Halfrauds "fitters" near your car ! Looking to drop the 220 at the back with whatever adjustment i can get on the concentrics. Get Sulzeruk to do another when we get the sunshine and i may take a run up.

Cheers Jim. I'm sure there will be a few gatherings this year now we've all touched base. I will give you a shout next time something is planned. You're almost in Scotland anyway in Cumbria! Keep an eye out for threads on the subject, would be great to meet you and see one of your cars! Stuart

ORIGINAL: markofay Found it had been vandalised; smashed windscreen, smashed drivers window scratched mirror and dented roof , changed my shredded 17inch cup 2 wheel for space saver, drove it home and aplied bin bags to broken windows
So sorry to hear that Mark you must be gutted. Any CCTV in the vacinity? Personnally I fitted my new aircon compressor. Didn't really want to do it until I was ready to gas it up but the old had started making an ungodly noise and I think it was ready to explode!! Then I realigned my N/S headlight to line up with badge panel. After this I realised that the bonnet gap was now a little large and did that as well [:D] Don't you just love quiet days at work [:)]

Twas a most enjoyable day today at Chateau (garage!) Cowan. Nice to see lots of 944s parked up outside the garage that aren't mine for once. I am sure we can organise a coffee morning again (as her indoors cheekily put it) or a nice barbeque when the weather gets better (if it ever does!). Would be good to get some of the north of England contingent up as well, meet up at the garage and head off for a run somewhere possibly. Today I mostly removed body parts from the Turbo S. Both wings off for repair and the drivers side sill is no more. Off to buy some fresh metal tomorrow and a new Dremel.

Eldavo - what tool did you use to remove it? I tried various things, external drive socket, standard socket, big adjustable! but couldn't get at it. Edit - yours is just a 2 pole switch so a lot smaller on top!
