what did you do to your 944 today

I fitted my £12 remote central locking kit, happy days a non expensive mod only to go and bugger up my hazard light switch and the dash trim panel it sits in :-(

I decided to give mine a bit of a clean inside yesterday after a kind owner helped me out with a gearknob and a set of mats ;). After going to the efforts of giving the mats a wet vacuum with great results, it seemed silly to not continue the same theme within the interior. And so I then gave the seats a bit of cleaning with the usual leather cleaner! Anyway, here are the results. Suffice to say it is a nicer place to be:

The jury is out on the silver top on the gearknob but time shall tell if it does grow on me :). The next jobs to tend to are to replace the missing screws which some of you may see (I lost a couple when I was forced to drive the car without doorcards (the car had snapped both solenoid operating rods making getting into and out of the car fun with regards to the immobiliser/alarm) in addition to repairing the driver's seat bolster (that however will be a winter job for my long suffering trimmer). Oh, and maybe I shall look into getting the clock display working via one of Oli's guides or with one of the eBay repair kits.

After a 700 mile ish round trip to Cornwall and area then Castle Combe in the red turbo ,i managed to fix my broken sunvisor clip with a spare given to me a while back,i fitted it all by myself- both screws[:)]

Fitted a nice new Bosch electric cooling fan. [:)] Old one (probably original) was getting a bit tired, making rumbling noises. Bearing/motor well past their 'best by date'. Another job done!....[:D]

£2.50!!! Thank Moses i found the spare![:D](i was quite lucky Paz gave me some spares after he sold his 968 ((now has a flashy Cayman S)) this was in there,in a Parts bag spanking new!) Just a quick observation,my car had been parked in sun,the one that broke had gone shiny, and a bit sticky!??like the plastic had started to melt!?The new part spare has a textured finish and looks really Matt... Does plastic rot/degrade?Maybe the one that broke was faulty?Maybe they have a long life guarantee i could claim on or a recall???[:D][:D] Maybe i should have started a new thread on sunvisor clips and see how many pages we could get too![:D][:D]

My new SV clip was broken when i got in car after work....[] Just ordered another 2 from Porsche Leicester. The original clip had metal reinforcement... The new parts clip that was in a parts pack was solid plastic... Would seem they dont build them like they used to...

The Sunvisor clip had a Metal reinforcement,it is a removable washer that i didnt remove ! Got new plastic clip and swapped metal part over! This DIY is getting addictive, oil change next.... Sorry for doubting your parts Mr Porsche!

Fitted a return spring to the throttle body that has been missing from the car ever since i've had and fitted a new fan speed knob oh and nipped up the bolts holding down the cam tower.

ORIGINAL: ChasR Always good news Oli. Saying that, my last S2 passed its MOT first time :).
Yeah - mine passed first time as well. (>Cough< I know the MOT guy well and he always treats me better than I deserve. And he carelessly - oh so carelessly! - poked the emissions test probe up the exhaust pipe of a reno clio instead of my car ... an understandable mistake as they are both blue, but by the time I spotted his error he had already printed out the certificate! [;)] ) I will be back next week once I have serviced it and blown all the crud out of the air filter to make sure all is well ... Oli.

Worked out why my power steering pump kept coming loose - the top rear bolt hole was completely stripped. Dropped the pump off at a friendly garage I know for it to be helicoiled and had a laugh at the cars he had in. They were working on an S reg Golf diesel with a 59 plate Alfa 156 sat waiting but up on the ramps sat a peppermint green 964 and a blue Ferrari 456. Then a mutual acquaintance popped by with his Countach SV for his reverse camera to be looked at. Given it's a little backstreet garage in studentsville they work on some very tidy motors!
