what did you do to your 944 today

A Countach SV is a rare beast. I thought there was the Muira SV, then a one-off Jarama SV, then none until the Diablo SV. But I could be wrong.

Got my cambelts re-tensioned and my air leak sorted! So nice to have a car which doesn't idle lumpy and again more than brilliant service from SCS Porsche who I can not rate highly enough! Also recieved the sad news that Tim Sweet the parts manager at OPC Exeter has moved to Reading now, which isn't so good, but brilliant for anyone that uses Reading OPC!

Not SV then, but 5000QV (I know this now via Wikipedia) :)

Refitted my freshly helicoiled power steering pump - it now feels the most secure it ever has. Also fitted a KLA strut brace. Fitted as per the instructions the bonnet was a good 3 inches from closing so flipped it around and dremeled a notch out of the heat shield - perfect!

Has it made any noticeable difference? Cheers Mick

Yes. It is certainly very noticeable in my engine bay :) Only fitted it yesterday, am having a run out today to go the R3 annual show but might not be pushing the limits enough to find out. Although I am on my track tyres due to my road wheels not being back from a refurb despite the guy's best assurances that they'd be ready by yesterday, grrrr!!!

The tint top is handy on those sunny days :). I have been trying to sort out the small issues on my car but now and again you have to treat yourself, and have a gentle reminder as to why you like your car. Besides cleaning it and nourishing various leather bits inside a bit of a find turned up this weekend. A vaguely tidy ClubSport steering wheel at a price I could afford and in the correct blue colour for my interior. I say the above since I wanted a CS steering wheel so badly for my S2 that I ached. With this car however, the Lozenge stock steering wheel seemed to exacerbate its '80s styling, especially with the white door handles and flag mirrors (we shall forget about the 17" Cup 1s....). And so I ended up with it. Upon fitting it (after feeding it with some leather cleaner and feed) it left me even more confused. It looks OK IMO, but it felt chunky, almost too chunky. That story changed on the road. I have no idea why but the steering feels a little lighter (maybe the old one was too thin, God knows!), and it has just aided the experience a little. To aid my confusion (and with the possibility of the CS steering wheel coming up for sale) have yourself a shot or two of the interior to make your own minds up.

CS wheel for me! Long time lozenge user converted first time I drove with a CS wheel. Always thought too chunky but now think lozenge too thin! Plus the CS wheel looks sooooo much better! Stuart

I've had a 924 turbo and 924s lemons with a lozenge. My s2 came with an identical cs wheel to yours and my plan was to fit a spare lozenge I had (have) and sell the cs, but after my first drive home I ditched that idea. Love the cs, so much nicer to grip in my opinion.

I think that is a 968 one.

You're right! I had no idea that the 944T one and the 968 one were different. It did come off a 968 race car though. Still works fine and fits fine as it is, I saved a few quid too ;)

Hi Guys its been a while but I have been distracted with family and stuff so my beloved 944 is still indoors this year. Ive gotton misguided with family and stuff (Alannah the 15 month old is keeping us busy). I blame that on that time we all went to Cirencester in 2011[;)] Had to go in a panic to get the 944 declared as off the road. Much the same system as SORN over with yous. It was off the road since Oct 2012 and I had to get the RF100 form signed by the Garda to say it was off since then. I had to then fill in an RF150 then to declare the 944 as off the road until Aug 2014. The days of Gardai signing the car off is now over from the 1st Oct. If I didnt do this job I would have been liable for all the back tax which would have run into €1500... Bloody Irish red tape.. but I will deffo be back someday ! Good to see that the mainstays on this forum are still about along with a fair few new heads ! Keep up the good work and yes I have learned a few more songs that I will share should the occasion warrant it ![:D]

Washed (rare), then all the dirty corners were toothbrushed (but I havent polished it so its clean pink), then spanked.
