what did you do to your 944 today

Wow. Really love that 924 turbo. Great pics too!!! What a nice little car they were. Still a great handling car. Would love to own one like this someday. As for my project. Assume 'stuff' is ongoing. When it's finished I might do a thread.

Certainly handled well at Castle Combe on Saturday afternoon. In my first session I kept up with a Lotus Elise. In the second a TR5 couldn't get away from me nor could the TVR S behind me get past. Both were Hill Climb/Speed Champs prepped/entries so were no slouches on track!! Really pleased with the package now. Bit firm (read 'harsh') on the crap UK roads but spot on when on track.

Sounds (& looks) great fun! It's always pleasing to keep the bigger, more powerful cars in sight. They just don't believe it. I suppose there's a thread on your build somewhere? Please copy/paste a link. I'd like to read it.

more welding and dressing welds......................... Still every bit done is a bit closer to the road.

I love that 924 Turbo S1 too.. I have a guards red one in my collection and its one car I will NEVER sell.. Shame is, I would love to modify it, but it would seem like sacrilege.. So I know I will end up eventually getting round to converting one of my 924 N/A's into a 924 turbo, but modified how I would like it. Today I started getting some of my 944's out of mothballs ready to get ready to find them new loving homes and making space for new toys and projects, so who knows...

Mine now has the 944 Turbo nose section and bolt on badge panel. Intercooler and charge pipework now need fitting but funds are limited over the next month or so. Hoping to get north of 200 bhp once this work is done. May need to pick your brains sometime as the modification list on your website has been tempting!!

This is really a beautiful 931, isn't it? [:)] How do you plan to guide air to the 951 intercooler? If you are interested I have a pic of a modified 931 that I saw in Germany last year, the owner modified the original intake so that he could use the 951 intercooler layout and get rid of the complex original 931 set up, will see if I can find it.

I have de SORNed the real one ready for the weekend and made a video of the virtual one. [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WRO4ob2bhI]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WRO4ob2bhI[/link]

No idea yet apart from the vented badge panel. Currently the car has a complete 951 nose section grafted in. Here's the pics pre paint

Any modified 931 info or pics would be gladly received. I have seen several variations on the same theme but none with any panels to drive air through the IC from the four vents in the badge panel. I was considering to also drill holes in the front bumper above the number plate for additional air flow but decided against it. Don't want the car to look too modified from a body point of view

The nose vents do allow for some airflow to the intercooler, but the important wording in "guide through the intercooler"... Its often missunderstood how an intercooler works and the benefits of a restricted airflow flow being guided to the intercooler... with a little tin work or ideally molded ducting the nose vents work really well. good to see some interest in the 931 here in the 944 forum, not enough people understand and appreciate them

There was that guy (can't remember his name?) who had that Orange highly modded 931 and ran a vent from nose through front mount up through the hood. He was in the UK and raced it primarily on Hillclimbs. Nice guy. Anyway, might be worth hunting him down and getting some good info from him? I agree with Jon here. By merely having some form of vented nose panel doesn't automatically mean you're increasing flow to/through the i/c or Rad. If the air has nowhere to go then it actually creates a stall zone and could even be detrimental. Having some vents in the hood somewhere is very important to allow sufficient flow through. I used to notice a lot of heat coming out of my hood vents which were not located like this Orange car has. Not necessarily dealing with the same concept but flow is flow to a greater or lesser degree.

The 924 CGTS have a similar layout to the 951, with the intercooler behind the badge panel, and they apparently make do with the openings in the badge panel, but I doubt it's as effective as an opening in the front bumper as on the 951.

PS : sorry, forgot looking for pictures of that car, send me a message otherwise I'm likely to forget again!

Went for a check-up at the dentists in mine, my Dentist has a 2.7 Lux tucked up in his Dad's garage awaiting some TLC, he hasn't used it for 8 years so hopefully my encouragement might get it back on the road....

ORIGINAL: 333pg333 I believe he's done a fair bit of work on this car since these pics were taken too.

Steve Bassington's car. A very extreme hillclimb car pushing the engineering boundaries of a 924 turbo to the limits. I will not be going this route as I plan to keep the external features of my car stock. Happy with 200 ish bhp not 300+ which Steve was pushing on his car. There will always be better and more expensive ways of extracting more power/efficiency. However I know my limits!!
