what did you do to your 944 today

Took mine in for its MoT on Saturday........and it past with no advisories [:)] [:)] Looking forward to a great summer of 944 driving, starting with the St Georges Rally in a few weeks time ...

Stuck mine on eBay ([link=http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271439397935?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649]here[/link]) but no interest. Shame that it seems impossible to sell a decent 944 even for a "cuppla grand". Ah well, looks like we will have to put up with each other for the foreseeable future. Did have a nice burn up to Tesco's this morning though; then parked sideways in three spaces for safety while shopping.

Plonked in a new race engine. Looking forward to getting her wired up and started!

Got it back from having its castor camber alignment etc done. Much better now. Going to do a quick tightness test on all nuts and bolts tomorrow and then taking it away for a couple of days next week.

Thanks! It's been a crazy 6 month rebuild and there's plenty still to do but I'm happy with the results so far.

I managed to complete servicing (a major one) my 951 with a couple of surprises of both kinds! Firstly I changed the plugs which were not too terrible. Upon changing that the air filter was next. I was not prepared for just how dirty it would be!:

After a couple of hundred miles of changing it, a certain forum member would sell me a barely used K&N! Typical! With this I also changed the fuel filter. This did look to have been changed around 15,000 miles ago going by the age of the filter (date stamp) and the receipts showing the mileage. Despite this, some strange coloured fuel came out initially before looking normal again. To my surprise, the unions connecting up to the filter looked new and were very easy to undo! It is great when a job you are dreading is a simple one Besides that I also went on to grease the brake and fuel lines (possibly a little overkill, but prevention is better than cure...), along with greasing other moving parts and giving the car a once over. The result? Probably a placebo or the fact that the filter was filthy but it certainly seems to have a little more urgency. I may have also have slipped the K&N panel filter into the airbox as well... Other news? My CD Player was never in that tidily due to all of the plethora of wires and the bluetooth module robbing valuable space, meaning that the cubby box would not go back in addition to the HU standing a little proud. After relocating the bluetooth box to where the rest of the ECUs live thanks to its mega long wiring loom (why did I not do that before!), I finally had a much tidier looking console:

Now, to fit the rear decal and to buy a sunroof seal. The question is, do I go to FrazerPart or get one from OPC (I assume they are both the same seal made via the same people).

Driving back down the very wet M5 from my 190-mile commute (back from "Drive You Classic to Work" day), bit of throttle and a sort of 'whumpf' sound and huge loss of power.....eeek, as I'm now in the fast lane and it's pretty busy. Tried re-start engine; run very rough and died again. Coasted and coasted and coasted as far as I could, which was juuuuust over the brow of Taunton Deane Services entry road xD About 5 confused-looking drivers behind me wondering why I'm doing only 15 MPH into the service station. Bonnet open (between hammering rain showers) and bit of a prod around: main boost hose into air intake had popped off. No toolkit in car (must do that today!!), so rooted around for something to loosen one of the jubilee clips in order to re-position the hose and then re-tighten. Only thing in the car that could do the job was a 5p piece, but it just sufficed and she's back running like the dream she was for the other 380 miles xD Bit of a close call, that one. Character-building, I think they call it. Really enjoyed the drive, though; 25 years old next month and cruised like a champ (most of the way...).

ORIGINAL: 944 man Why do you have two rear wiper switches?
All I shall say is Simon, my rear wiper motor can suddenly become stupidly loud upon the left switch being engaged, probably the loudest motor I have heard for some time... The clue is in my signature (sort of)[;)]. Cheers Andy! Having everything working inside and tidy certainly makes the car a more pleasurable place. Now to deal with hatch pins and a slightly perished sunroof seal.

MOT tomorrow so I needed to swap out my broken power steering tensioner. Removed the top one, was ready to fit the middle one but the bottom one arrived today super quick (less than a week) from Lart's Parts eBay shop in the states.

MOT at Lexus didn't go as planned. Just got settled with my coffee and finished a bit of chat with the receptionist when the guy came back round and told me it had failed. The car had been gone less than 5 mins! Turns out he was half-joking - it was too low to get on their MOT ramps so they couldn't do it, drove round to Porsche and had a look at their ramps which are recessed into the ground so flat with the floor. Going back on Monday.

Today I pumped up the tyres, adjusted the suspension and backed off the mbc a little. At the weekend though I managed to get my seats back in

the little square on the base of the drivers seat is a piece of Porsche linen coloured vinyl, im quite pleased with how close the colour match is
