what did you do to your 944 today

Chas, it even has it's own loo and shower, seriously [:D] i could bloody well live in it, ther is an office upstairs you can see the stairs in one of the pictures, unfortunately mine is chokka block with all sorts of bits, but the car still fits in. May have a good sort and tidy this weekend, i have sorted my tool chest out recently, i can find stuff now and put things back in their place when finished with, all surplus duplicate tools are getting shipped down to my other garage.

ORIGINAL: Eldavo Actually failed my MOT today on 3 points: 1: Handbrake Efficiency - I've just removed the handbrake mechanism tonight, cleaned everything up and fitted a new handbrake gaiter too. Set the rear adjusters and re-assembled everything. Solid as a rock and will definitely pass now. 2: Split CV Boot - while I was doing the handbrake I cleaned all the moly grease up from the split boot. Porsche wanted just over £50 for 1 boot, car is going into my indy's tomorrow to have all 4 changed at £12 a pop for the parts. They'll also swap the driveshafts over if they look worn in any way. 3: Driver's side headlight aim too low - now the fun begins!!! MOT man came out to say that the beam was too low on the driver's side headlight but when he went back to adjust it the headlights wouldn't come up at all. I was told that I had an electrical problem and needed to get it looked at. I couldn't for the life of me work out what was going on as the headlights were working fine and then had suddenly stopped so I got the MOT tester to show me. He jumped in, ignition round 1 click, turned the headlight knob and . . . . nothing. He looked at me with a smug expression on his face that I'd dared to question him. I noticed that the indicator stalk was pushed forward for main beam, I leant over and knocked it back and the headlights popped straight up. My turn to look smug. The tester just quietly went . . . Oh! Serves me right for taking it somewhere that doesn't know their way around these cars . . . . My OPC!!!
All 4 CV boots changed and the driveshafts swapped over today. Also dropped in the two oil seals for the gearbox cooler as it is weeping slightly. May as well get that sorted whilst the car is at the garage, I was going to do it myself but far easier and quicker when it's on the ramp!

Well yesterday, I finally got round to sorting a few niggly jobs.... 1) Fit new rear wiper blade which had been sitting in the rear compartment since before last years MOT. 2) Fit new driver's window scraper, the original one was well crusty. Since I'd taken the door card off, I managed to refit the twin speaker unit after repairing the damaged diaphragm with a dab of clear silicone. It'd been sitting on a shelf in my office for about 3 years since I replaced the window motor and couldn't figure out how to refit the speaker mounting brackets and lost patience. What a difference all 10 speakers working makes [:D] 3) Check condition of combination lamps mounting screws. I'd last done this a couple of years back when I'd had to drill out 2 of the threaded collets, fill the holes with epoxy putty and then fitting self tapping screws. Stupidly didn't use s/steel ones and was lucky to be able to get them out. They're the n/s 2 on the passenger side lamp - I guess these get the worst road/gutter spray. Now fitted with chunky s/steel ones - job done forever [:)]

I strongly recommend everyone to check theirs and sort them to avoid very costly replacement down the line.

Wasn't what I did[] Washed the car Friday avo and dried it outside the house with a couple of towels and left it all shiny and glorious. Parked up in town yesterday and noticed the rear bumper damage. Tow bar hit bang in the middle, cracked the bumper, bent the black bump strip. Fuming, finished off in town and then popped in the convenience store on the way home. Noticed the bridge spoiler's also been hit, big chip on the edge and a six inch scrape running front too back. By now, absolutely furious. Mooched about trying to work out where the damage had come from, then realised the guy a few doors down had parked his flatbed behind me on Friday avo then came back in his Focus later on, so I'm pretty certain he's backed into the Porsche with the towbar and the bottom of his flatbed dinging the spoiler, and then driven off. Even in a Cargo flatbed you'd know if you've backed into something so gonna ring the insurers and see what they say and then give him a knock for what'll be an interesting conversation no doubt. Did fit the period Blaupunkt that Tim gave me out of his 964, good old internet got the me the unlock code. Dug out a Daft Punk mix tape from '97 for a bit of nostalgia [:)] Still didn't make me feel any better about the damage tho. F, F and indeed S. EDIT: Just been outside in the sun to get a couple of pics of the damage, and this guy walks over and asks me if my car's been hit. Turns out he and his wife were walking past as the guy did indeed reverse his truck into the rear end, setting the alarm off at the same time. This chap couldn't work out why he reversed so far as he had loads of space (which I thought so too when I recalled were his truck was in relation to the Porsche). Then when they walked past later on their way home he checked for damage. Gave me his name address and number this morning. Easter Sunday just perked up[:)]

Result! Id have been tempted to accept that you could gently touch something in an HGV (but maybe not a car licence lorry) without knowing, but if the alarm went off then there is no doubt that he knew. As this isn't Pistonheads I don't have the range of expletives available to me to describe the cunt. [:D]

Collected it from Newcastle OPC with a fresh MOT waiting on the passenger seat - just a shame it wasn't one of the girls from service :(

Oil/Filter/Dizzy cap/Rotor arm/plugs/ Cap Head Machine Screws on TPS/Heater control flap plug and cap/secondary spring on throttle body/ECU-KLR footwell wiring tidied up/washed and detailailer spray....................drove it [:D]

Fixed the central locking (broken plastic actuator rod) and sorted out the birds nest mess of wiring behind the centre console. I HAVE TUNES FINALLY! WOOHOO! Opened, cleaned, and fixed the drivers door window switch which is now working, but the window still doesn't work, leading me to believe I have a duff motor. Will whip out the old multimeter and test tomorrow.
