what did you do to your 944 today

Dropped the front of the car by about 15/20mm today had to take the MO30 fronts off as the adjusters where not wanting to adjust despite them not having done many miles and still looking shiny, we had BIG Keith on the C spanners after a lot of heat, now lowered but requires tracking and camber plus wheel balance done.............tomorrow.

Washed and chamois dried it and removed many tar spots and fly splatterings. Also fixed a loose connection in mirror wiring, secured a loose speaker grille, secured loose carbon fibre plate that houses wideband and boost gauge in former cubby hole and stripped down and cleaned MAF control box and securely re-mounted! Flushed oil and changed to new Total Quartz Racing 10w/50 fully synth. Fitted 2 new Uniroyal Rainsport 3's on front yesterday, what a difference! Stuck half a tank of Shell Nitro in, all ready to take me to golf in style Saturday and Sunday! Stuart

Finally got down to in-laws and took off cover - Got the father in laws Pajero jeep and leads ready ! Re connected the battery - Turned the key and off she went.. Revs going up and down so idle air valve is sticking - no surprise after a year and a half ...! After 20 mins of running took the 944 out once again ... The car looks a hell of a lot better than I remember ... The father-in-law comes and says we will run it down to the town and see how she goes ! The Gardai wont be about as its donought time ....[;)] (This is important as there is no tax or NCT (MOT) even if I am insured) Drive past the kitchen window and wife throws her eyes up and mouths the words "F**ks Sake" - Mother-in-law just shakes her head ! - Father-in-law says "Ahhh Dont mind them" After a quick check over we set off nice and handy ! Car driving superb ! I have to get an NCT date now ! Wife wants me to sell her but after today that aint going to happen ... Yes I will advertise her but at a price thats totally ridiculous and if the phone dosent ring then I wont sell - Simples ....! I have said it before I have teh car 14 years and I know the wife 8 so guess who will be gone first ....[:D]

Well done Donal...Good to see you have her on the road again! Hope to see you at some of the shows this summer....are you going to Classic Car Live in Mondello? John.

Took the Porsche to Deal classic car show today :) had a problem with the central locking which caused the passenger door handle freeze up, gave it a little pressure to open it and it pulled the lock in too the handle :( now central locking works but it doesn't lock the doors??? anyway this has spured me on to look at further problems!! ABS pump for one, got it stripped back so I can get to the pump and yep all the bolts apart from 1 are rusted in and now rounded off :(( also needs a wheel bearing and ball joint.. so lots to get on with!! does anyone know of a known working ABS pump for sale?? oh and also 2 fronts wings lol. oh and my Porsche S2 cab...

I ended up using a Dremel and a drill to cut off or drill out the bolt heads for the bottom of the ABS pump bracket. Some of those bolt extraction bits would probably work too. I got a used ABS pump for about £60 delivered from the states.

Buy a set of these. You need this one and the expansion set will cost you about £40. One of the best things I ever bought. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IRWIN-5-piece-Bolt-Grip-for-Gripping-and-removing-damaged-nuts-and-bolts-/121349279135?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item1c40

Fitted new boot latch rubbers, found the existing ones had been fitted in the wrong holes. Must have been a job to get the fat side squished under the narrow side of the opening if you ask me [&:] Fitted a set of fog light protectors, need a bit of trimming to get a perfect fit but look great.

Bought a new DME relay as the first port of call in trying to diagnose why she cuts out after a short amount of driving. £200 recovery :-/
