what did you do to your 944 today

Went and picked it up from JMG last night [8D] (thank you so much for everything Jon' [:D]). Flew home [8D]!! Forgotten how much I missed Him [:D][:D][:D]!!!

Changed the starter motor. No more slow speed chug chug chug at startup and it seems to have maybe cured the hot start random idling problem I have had for many years (but I can't think why)

got it off in the end with good old wd40 and lots of it!! down side is 3 of the brake lines have to be replaced as the bolts were seized in the pump so making them up next week once I got a decamp second hand pump sourced???
ORIGINAL: Eldavo I ended up using a Dremel and a drill to cut off or drill out the bolt heads for the bottom of the ABS pump bracket. Some of those bolt extraction bits would probably work too. I got a used ABS pump for about £60 delivered from the states.

Yesterday I picked up my all metal vented badge panel from the fabricators, now I can get on with mock up for a different intercooler and a method of boxing it in to direct the airflow. Does anyone have an old S2 bumper lying around that's ripe for cutting up to assist my mock up?

ORIGINAL: Diver944 You're a bad man Donal [;)]. Really nice to hear you've got the old girl going again
Well Ive done what I said ... ! http://cars.donedeal.ie/vintagecars-for-sale/porsche-944-turbo/7074501 She aint going no where - I can promise you that !

I went to the inaugural Coventry MotoFest this weekend. Considering I only really threw a bucket of water over the 944 it scrubbed up well!: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10152125221590843.1073741830.504875842&type=1&l=ef08de1b49 For the above link, no account is required ;). I also got the chance to give it a few beans around a completely clear Ring Road :D.

First blast in the S2 - can get very illegal very easily , very quickly and without any drama! Saw lots of nice 944s at Bedford, only one went the wrong way! :)

drilled out a seized intercooler mounting bolt and re-tapped 6 mm ready for when the IC is returned from being modified by Tom at Augment Auto. I'll post pictures in my engine build thread when I refit the IC.. will be the first update in 2 years.....:) Pete

Looked for reason why turbo won't boost, could it be this?

Fixed the driver's window switch. Works but still a bit sticky so will give it a another go at the weekend. Went for a short blast up to the Creg then home via Laxey. Ordered some cleaning products so I can hopefully give it a good detail later this month. Checked my paint code - actually India Red (LM3A) not Guards Red. Good job seeing as it's going in for some work in next couple of weeks. Updated signature [:D]

I've managed to squeeze in a few little jobs on my 944 over the last few days, amongst work and socialising!! Decided I would replace the fuel filter as I had no record of it being done in the last 10 years at least. Old one didn't look too dirty, but at least I now know it has been done. Decided to check my fuel pressure as well, thankfully it all looks spot on, 55 psi with DME jumpered, 50 psi at idle and 50psi after 20 minutes leakdown - which strikes me as pretty good. I have a receipt for injector refurb within the last 30k (iirc), so I guess this attributes to the good leakdown result. Also managed to get my 16V diagnostic lead finalised.........just need to test it properly with PIWIS now: 944 Work Pics by Hallsy01, on Flickr I have only quickly plugged it into my OBDII tool, just to check at least the power connections are OK, it doesn't have the correct protocols in Torque to be able to talk to it.... 944 Work Pics by Hallsy01, on Flickr Then, over the weekend I noticed my drivers rear wheel was getting warm, I had heard some rubbing/whistling noises from this wheel recently, and assumed it was a ridge on the disc, or maybe signs of wheel bearing on its way out. Stripped down today and seems like the issue is caliper related. Handbrake is not dragging, but caliper piston was fairly tight, and sliders not sliding very well. I was pushed for time, so worked and cleaned/lubricated as best I could - however, by the time I had got to work it had locked on more than before, noticeably dragging and the disc was very hot :( Looks like I'll be rebuilding the rear calipers this week then!!

Although I do believe there are different shades, India red and Guards red are the same thing. German name is Indischrot, which is India Red, but it comes from Indian Guards Red I believe. I think that's right anyway!!
