just waiting for the cross over pipes etc to come back from plating[:)]

My wife's noticed a slight misfire on her 924S which I reckoned must be ignition related so fitted a new set of Beru leads & Bosch Superfour WR7 8 plugs -the leads fitted were the originals from 1986 [&o]-new ones nice & silicone soft-old ones quite hard -car now smooth again with nice even 750 rpm idle-not bad for a 100k,28 yr old car. I know we moan about the cost of spares for these cars but I can't think of many other brands or models of cars which run so well just used as a runaround really with frequent short stop/start journeys.total cost at ECP-£76 inc VAT. As the Bosch superfours I took out were in excellent condition(only fitted new as a precaution)-I cleaned them & replaced the NGK plugs which came in the trackday 924S with them which immediately showed in a smooth start & idle in the car which hasn't been started since Curborough on 18th May. Also fixed the passenger electric window-stripped the door switch ,cleaned the contacts-bent one to a better shape ,magic silicone spray in all the guides -now works like a dream[:)]

Sorted out my rear hatch which hadn't opened since about April as one of the rods had fallen out ... a thing I knew I had to get done as I took it for an MOT and they wouldn't even test it! So the infamous 944 crawl had to be done ... Two new struts at the back now and upon releasse, the thing rises like the Shard on the South Bank ... lovely.

Very inpressive work Ken! [:)]

Took the car out of the garage to give it a run, it was not running right seems to be hesitant then it comes on, my AFR was showing 15.2 when warm it is usually 14.7 i suspect an air leak. Took her back to the garage and had a quick gander but nothing obvious, could not be arsed with it as i have had a full on couple of car days with the 997. Will spend some time on it this week []

Today I replaced the seals which run up the A-pillar and over the roof, even manged to get the trim off without breaking/losing any clips. I feel quite proud of myself [:)]

Took delivery of my Certificate of Authenticity, really chuffed. Signed by the MD of Porsche Cars GB no less! Interestingly it says my S2 had a brown leather/leatherette interior but is now sporting black leatherette/cloth. Am going to ring the previous owner and see if he knows whether it had a new interior or not, but might even be before his time (which would mean a new interior after 8 years or so although ashtray has seen some use previously). Can't imagine Porsche got it wrong. Guy at the bodyshop said he thought the carpet looked new when I took it up a couple of weeks ago. The plot thickens.

The COA is quite often a little bit wrong so that's always possible. Check the options sticker to see what it actually should be.

I wouldn't bother. People have been swapping 944 interiors for the last twenty years. In the nineties I sold trim to scores of people with reasonably new cars. People like PH and Buttercup sold hundreds of sets. I sold as many sets of leather trim to people with poorly ageing Beige and even Linen material trim as I did to the owners of tatty old series one cars. Unless the car has one or maybe two previous owners at most, then you're on a hiding to nothing.

Picked it up at the other garage with a view to sorting out the hesitation (suspect lean running) air leak, bloody thing now behaving and as good as a good thing [:)] quick once over under the bonnet and everything seems okay ? Stuck £40 worth of BP's finest in and drove it, pulling like a train [;)] Washed and dried, machine polished the bonnet using 1 glaze, car was then treated to some kosher Zymol (Very Expensive Stuff) which you apply by hand, absolutely gleaming now all the glass cleaned and the inside of the windscreen along with some Poorboys trim treatment, the best stuff i have used on trim and dash ! Off to a show tomorrow camping overnight, load her up in the morning with tent stove and some other essentials (Merlot) and off we go, bet the old girl turns some heads [;)] It is a VAG show with dropped down Lupo's etc along with some aircooled stuff which i off course like ! [:D]

Thanks to my youngest son I now have a re-surfaced fly-wheel, machined down to 25.02 mm which is a fraction under spec of 25.2 mm and with a roughness measured at 4 microns... good enough for me. This flywheel had never been re-surfaced before and the grooves in it were pretty deep, no wonder it slipped.. clutch is still very healthy with plenty of meat but I'm going to put a new one in anyway. Meanwhile my eldest son gave me a great price for a Sachs clutch today but said he may also be able to get an uprated Helix trade too.. will have that price next week so looks like I may have the flywheel and clutch fitted soon, if so I'll probably drop the short block back into the car as I need the workshop space. Pete

Pete, where is your sons gargage and what is their contact number as Soli who has bought my 220 is down that way and could do with somebody who knows the cars.

Hi Jim....... my son is based in Alperton North London, you can get him on 07717 572406...I warned him to expect a call Pete

Took my car in for a service, belt change and to hopefully get the radiator fan fixed so that it doesn't stay on all the bloomin time. Am hoping its just the sender but have warned my wallet to brace itself just in case it turns out to be something else....
