what did you do to your 944 today

After a very pleasant visit to a new garage-full of petrol heads , [link=http://www.garageexeter.com/]Jeff Moore's[/link], guys who have even built a Cayman GTR rep (3.8 GT3 engine.....[;)]) I have just ordered a complete replacement set of Koni dampers for my Turbo from Paragon USA (will pick up in Hong Kong, saving tax!). Looking forward to an end to all the ride woes..... Russ

Drove up to a friends place in Harrogate Friday night. Watched the finish of the first stage of the Tour de France and took in the atmosphere which was superb. Great drive back down to London today.

Sunday forecast - dull possible rain -- Right time to wash the cars - out with the gear, wet up sponge and the sun comes out -- another aborted morning! Where is all this solar energy coming from?
Not that far from you, my forecast was sun, with the slight risk of a shower. I got going cutting my hedges, and promptly got soaked when the heavens opened. []

Did nothing on the car but checked the long range weather forecast........rain and freezing weather non stop till June next year [:D][:D][:D]

Went out for an early morning assault on some of Northumberland's finest twisties with a mate in his RS4 before stopping for breakfast on the way back. I had a very strange situation whereby the idle would shoot up to just under 3k rpm and the car would drive like it had cruise control fitted. Even stranger as it was intermittent and a decent blast of the loud pedal would clear it. Upon stopping it turned out that where I'd painted the throttle body I obviously hadn't masked off the spring fully and it was biding a little to stop the throttle fully closing. 30secs of scratching at it with a key and it's all fixed - if only everything in life was as simple as that!

Took it up to my wife's school, parked it in the playground for a couple of hours for their "transport exhibition" along with (among other things) a Wolsely Four/Forty Four, a fire engine, a Massey Ferguson, a Honda Accord cop car and a breakdown truck from Manx Automobile Assistance who spent 2 hours lifting a Golf on and off the back of his wagon bless him. Me? I got to shovel I reckon sixty odd kids in the car, 3 at a time for a sit down. They loved it. Especially when I had them shouting "1,2,3" and bingo! pop up headlights....v cool apparently. Lots of parents taking pics of their little un's sat behind the wheel. Quite a pleasant feel good afternoon, and naught but a quick Hoover at the weekend to get back to a sparkling interior. Did split the plastic trim along the top of the sill tho where they stood on it climbing in the back. Ah well, can't be helped. Tho one little chap did ask if it was a Ferrari. Obviously need a new colour[:D]

Excellent stuff Worsey - it always amazes me how many people, young & old pass nice comments on mine - likewise, I've had the ferrari comment before, froman adult no less!! I'm picking up another 944 tomorrow, it's not Guards Red though - I bet it will hardly get noticed in comparison!!! I do love Guards on a 944.

I had a parking ticket in my 944 last year. The pain of the ticket was (almost) balanced by the amusement of seeing that the parking warden had listed the "Make" as "Ferrari"! [:)] Oh, and what have I done to my S2 today? Nothing. But I did buy two plastic central locking rods yesterday from my OPC so may fit them before the end of the week. Oli.

It seems the 944 is sometimes mistaken as a Ferrari. At a local pub I frequent a casual observer once said to me "I saw you driving around in a white Ferrari Coupe". He may not be the first. I had no such luck with my S2 and a parking warden though Oli. He did put down Porsche mind you!

Spill the beans, what have you bought, a Turbo? You don't want to tell certain peeps if you have. You shall be branded a traitor for your sins [:D].

Erm.........erm.......yep, I have moved over to the dark side!! I love my S, but I had to scratch the Turbo itch!! Who will be out for my blood!!?? Picking up this afternoon, excited, apart from driving across London in the heat!!

Kept the Audi/VW myth alive by fitting an A3 storage net to my door card:

I made it home!! God it was hot, and late trains meant i hit 5pm traffic!!! The tempegauge was getting towards the worrying point whilst queuimg in the heat!!

Messed around with the white dial clocks I got from Steve: First of all, I needed to do something about the illumination as I'd done with my original ones:

So, time to attack that manky old silvering on the light tubes with some electrical contact cleaning solvent and some cloths:

Then I fitted tin foil over each prism, cut it to fit and taped it securely in place with electrical insulating tape. Then for a bit of mileage correction:

And all ready to fit:

But . . . I've removed them. I realised that they were 220 Turbo clocks as they didn't have a separate warning light for low oil level, the 180MPH clocks therefore didn't marry up (hats off to 944man for spotting that one). I peeked under the white dial to work out how the dial correlated to the original underneath and an indicated 85mph would actually be 80mph so I was happy with that being that way around and fitted them. But after all that - I preferred the originals so refitted them the next day :)
