Ye of little faith [;)] I'm already in front with the stripping down as I did most of it last weekend. Discs, pads, calipers, fuel lines, brake lines all removed and the rear axle is down too.

The fuel lines behind the front wheel arch liner were in a sorry state.

With a large section over the rear axle having been replaced with rubber hose they had to go.

More later [:)]

Well it became really cold really fast so I've called it a night. Quite happy with the progress so far, fuel lines are all done including fitting a new filter and link hose. Front to rear brake line also in place as are the two across the rear.

cracking job ! too bl**dy cold to work outside this weekend brrrr Are you going to treat and protect the pipes when you've finished ?

ORIGINAL: 944Scott Did you make those fuel pipe brackets ?
Yeah but I don't know why, they're only £3 each, although you do need 9 so every little saving helps [:)]

It's bordering on too cold inside, I've two 2kw heaters and all the lighting on and highest temp I saw today was 10 degrees.

Once everything's done and pressure tested, I'm thinking emptying a can of waxoyl on the underside would be a good idea. So today I've refitted the rear axle and brakes, they all still need bleeding but I'm happy it's going back together without too much swearing. I didn't do anything major to the calipers whilst they were off, I'd pumped the pistons out and pushed them back in a few times before removing them, so I was happy to leave them alone, they don't look pretty but they work. Having said that I did do this.

The drivers side ball joint has a split rubber, so out came the hammers and pry bars, neverending fun.

ORIGINAL: Mersea944 Wow do you want to do mine:)
I don't really want to do mine [:D] Trying to pin point an oil leak tomorrow that's looking suspiciously like the sump gasket will not help matters either.

Took Merlot to the pet shop in the back, got home and the tailgate would not open - motor sounds fine but no clicking! Has anybody else tried to get a 30kg blind dog out of the back of a 944 through the passenger door - not recommended! Anyway, the crank on the motor has snapped in two. Took the bits off, got a strip of mild steel, bent it to shape, drilled one hole slightly smaller than original, filed taper in to it. Drilled out the riveted pin from the outer end of the crank, very carefully, to retain as much metal as possible, then drilled the new crank, and, as thinner than the original, pushed it through and peaned over the rear. Then reassembled. The new bit being soft mild steel formed its own splines on the motor shaft ones.

i treated the 944 to a few new bits recently but onlt fitted new plates and a new K&N Apollo air filter <a href="http://s941.photobucket.com/user/john_noble1/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/56CF5377-1488-4D9E-8F78-325D97834939_zpsqd4jyzvr.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i941.photobucket.com/albums/ad253/john_noble1/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/56CF5377-1488-4D9E-8F78-325D97834939_zpsqd4jyzvr.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 56CF5377-1488-4D9E-8F78-325D97834939_zpsqd4jyzvr.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s941.photobucket.com/user/john_noble1/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/C85B9817-BD07-4631-B9E3-0DB2C94D65D4_zps9jbmquqb.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i941.photobucket.com/albums/ad253/john_noble1/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/C85B9817-BD07-4631-B9E3-0DB2C94D65D4_zps9jbmquqb.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo C85B9817-BD07-4631-B9E3-0DB2C94D65D4_zps9jbmquqb.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s941.photobucket.com/user/john_noble1/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/918FF469-DFFF-43F6-85FE-84798B7BE793_zps21yxlbbc.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i941.photobucket.com/albums/ad253/john_noble1/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/918FF469-DFFF-43F6-85FE-84798B7BE793_zps21yxlbbc.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 918FF469-DFFF-43F6-85FE-84798B7BE793_zps21yxlbbc.jpg"/></a>
