what did you do to your 944 today

I've done them before on my last car but this is at the garage being done for me. Although I might well be done for if MrsEldavo ever sees the bill.

installed my new steering wheel today, never done this before so took my time so I didn't mess things up and damage anything. Turned out to be a really simple job, really like the new look plus it's a bit chunkier, felt really good when I took it for a drive.

Last weekend, got round to further proofing the 2 inside front wings on the grey 924S after it had the 2 sill areas repaired by Gratt Motors Ltd in Openshaw ,Manchester-this is the 1st panel rust repair I have ever needed on this 29yr old,102K mile vehicle in use everyday all weathers since 1991 when we part exe'd our original 924 Lux for it at 29k miles. Used a combination of Zinc rich aerosol spray ,several coats, followed by aerosol underseal -several coats -then body shultz-you guessed it-several coats Also looked in the sills -looked really good so have hauled the Waxoyl into the house to warm up (then a hotwater bucket) ready for a warmer day to spray them both-already cleared out the drainage slots with a hacksaw. Fitted new gasket under the drivers door handle large end to replace the split one I found 2 weeks when I had to refit the plastic link onto the small balljoint on the lock mechanism. All I need to do now is buy 2 long version 17 & 19 mm spanners to give me the leverage to crack the fuel filter unions (which have had -several sprays of WD40/GT85)

Looks really nice George, I had the same style on my old Turbo and really loved it. I haven't seen this style for sale for a while , where did you get it from?

ORIGINAL: Eldavo Wardy - if it's not too late for you then I have both balance shafts oil seals spare as the US supplier including duplicates rather than the camshaft seal as advertised :(
Thanks for the offer but I'm all sorted, I just need a day off work to make a start putting it all back together. [:)]

Thanks Paul, I had wanted one for a while now but hadn't really done anything about it, wasn't sure what I needed to buy for it to fit properly onto the car, then found this one on ebay with the boss kit, so decided to go for it. It's not new, but there didn't seem to be anything wrong with it, other than its been used.

Not much done today, I stayed up all night watching the Bathurst 12hr [] Anyway after a late start the Sump, cross-member and steering rack are all back in [:)]

Nice work Wardy... If there is one thing to rejoice about with these typical oil leaks, it's that all aluminium parts come out looking nearly as new after a good clean [:)]

This is a relative of mine racing in the 2002 24hr race.

A tenuous connection to 944s, but Im sure that we would all like a GT3...

Strewth! [:D] My younger brother has become an Australian, but my family is from Yorkshire. Chris was the only international driver in that car: the others were Aussies.

Thanks... You're right about cleaning things, I'm actually finding it oddly satisfying [8D] Did a little bit more tonight.

The armrest, erm . . . It was very late on a Friday night, I'd been drinking, I was on US ebay, I woke up the next day with a headache and £80 lighter. On the positive side it sets off my leather trimmed centre console and carbon door cards. [:D]

Did you also replace the thin transparent plastic seals for the balance shafts? Just thought I would mention them since it is not always easy to even just spot them when taking off the front bearings.

Yeah I replaced them, as you say very hard to find if you don't know where to look.

Fitted the new timing belt today the rest will now have to wait until sunday.

So Sundays come and gone and whats been done today? Well truth be told I've finished the belts already, I did them one night in the week so that's all done. Now you're probably thinking I've had the day off, well no not quite, you see I've had a clutch issue for a while now, 1st and reverse have been a real pain to select often resorting to turning the car off, putting it in gear and then starting it back up again, not ideal I'm sure you'll agree. So.....

I've yet to remove the flywheel but a new crank seal and pilot bearing will be going in.
