what did you do to your 944 today

Managed to pull the bolt out of the back of my pump on track yesterday and ended the day with no power steering. I'd had the hole helicoiled once before so this time I'm putting a single 110mm bolt all the way through the pump and the spacers and double lock nutting it on too. After it happened the first time (half way round the Nurburgring no less) I replaced the tensioner with an uprated one about double the thickness so at least that kept everything in place.

Was that why you were going so slowly through Hall Bends???

Nope, that was because I drive slower throughout the day as I can feel my car appreciating in value. [:D]

Eldavo, I have the spacers and a pump spare if you need some spares? The pump is knackered but the casing may be of use even just to mock up with

Having been here before I have 2 spare pumps (one with a knackered housing) and a spare set of pump spacers in addition to the ones I have - the kind offer is very much appreciated though. Big bolt, big washers and nyloc nuts should be overkill - perfect for a season of track use :)

I've been battling the same issue with mine since September, I found the best fix was putting a stud in both ends. It's a little more painful putting it together but seemed to have cured it coming apart (remember the loctite) I gave up when said pump decided to split and leak all the fluid over the drive. It was at that point I went to a sport manual rack. It's a little heavy parking but seems to have eliminated the slight play I had in the powered rack.

Took it out for the first time in 6 weeks brakes seemed a little odd but after the 45 mile drive to DLF classics in Suffolk they settled down. Then had the belts water pump and pullys done and an oil change ready for Rutland 😊😊

gave the old girl some new boots and decals the other day!!

Not coming off anytime soon, 110mm bolt through the back, through the long spacer and then the pump. There's then a washer and locknut holding that in place before it goes through the short spacer and then another washer and locknut.

spent all afternoon covering every surface on the interior with dynomat stuff. New sound deadening going in tomorrow. then carpet. I hope it works and quietens it down a bit.

A service on Saturday. Did it in the morning, under dense cloud but keen to finish it before it rained. (Of course, the moment I put the spanners away and fired the kettle up for a cuppa tea the sun came out!) Usual routine; got it hot, drained the old oil, changed the oil filter and plugs, new oil in, removed and cleaned the air filter (it's a re-usable K&N), checked all fluids (all fine), cleaned and lubricated things like door locks, bonnet catch, boot catches, headlight mechanism and checked tyres for pressure and any flints. I also changed the seal around the boot keyhole as the old one was quite perished. Everyone seems to say that this is a difficult job and I wasn't looking forward to it, but if you remove the locking mechanism (which is held in with a mere two bolts) then it's a doddle! New seal was a princely £1.68 from my OPC. As always, it's smoother, quieter and pulls a little better for being shown some love. Oli.

Or if you dunk the seal in some hot water for 5 mins its even more of a doddle as it requires nothing to be removed [;)]

Some time this week? Bring parts and beers and some funny stores and I'll put the kettle on in anticipation of your arrival!

DAB and Bluetooth headunits are a bit rare. What model? Oli.

Made a blink tester and a pressure tester bung this evening and started with the leak testing. Found one but I still have more as I cannot maintain pressure.

The rear window demist and air recirculation buttons on my temperature control unit were worn out and illegible so I've changed the unit for a good used one. Then I fitted a new LCD screen into the clock. Dashboard looks a lot smarter now.

Collected my S.2 from Promax after 12k service, all belts, rollers, seals, new hand brake shoes, replace cracked cam tower cover and some other bits and bobs. Car now running better and smoother than for ages, partly due to very loose balance belt. It's the first time I've used them and was very grateful for the loan of a courtesy car as mine is my only car. It was good to be able to talk to the guy who did the work who is also an S.2 owner. Can't remember the last time I shown the used parts removed. Very happy with the overall service and will definitely use in future. Also not as far away as I'd thought and a pleasant drive too.
