Cut and retrimmed sunroof panel. The old vinyl was hanging off, and I am converting the sunroof to manual latches because the electrics are causing me to lose hair. Plus I like the idea of me being in control of the sunroof being properly latched. Tartan is something I've always wanted to do and cost me £6. Now that I know it looks good i'll be doing the bottom half of the door cards and a gear gaiter maybe if I can stitch like I can glue!

That looks much better than it has any right to! Almost a twist on pascha ....

I took the instrument cluster out of my S2 yesterday to see why it was rattling. It turns out that the perspex cover was coming loose, so I removed it entirely, cleaned out the crumbs of glue that had dropped into the space in front of the dials and glued it back together again. Now no rattle - very satisfying! I also moved the column stalks slightly closer to the wheel to encourage the indicator self-cancelling to work better. It does - much better, but something is dragging on the back of the steering wheel so it makes a grinding noise when you go 'round a corner ... perhaps I moved it too far!

Sadly it seems that the boot still leaks, despite my repair of the catch last weekend.

Oli.

The S2 got an mot today and came home with me , the journey begins, some paint a wheel refurb and some minor fettling.[:)]

Cheers folks about the sunroof! Still to do doorcards. Havent ordered more material yet.

Todays note however, scored a set of Borbet Cup One reps in the early offset for £200. Painted them gold/bronze. They look amazing.

And yes, the rear tyres were scrap anyway!

Trying to sort out as to why the side lights on the near side both front and rear are not working .... scratching my head at this one .... cecked bulbs etc ....

i did remove the electric aerial as its not working , just wondering if this could be the cause ....

Removed both bottom boot latches from grey 924S as the there was corrosion developing at the front & corner edges of the body apertures,

power wire brushed (Dremel-) treated with a antirust agent -2 coats-3 coats zinc rich paint followed by 2 coats gloss-left to harden dry overnight.

Also had to treat the 2 steel captive stud plates although only 1 of them was a bit grotty.

Replaced plates with a Vaseline coating ,then cleaned out sliding latch mechanisms & refitted centralising 1st one & tightened up nuts before fitting RHS unit.

Had to glue up the LH rubber cushion where it had 2 splits in it-amused to find these are handed -can't work out why, then using plenty of talcum powder, refitted them both -a fiddly job as you need to tuck the rear facing edge fairly deep to miss the projecting steel flange that reinforces the body opening & then work your way round-greased cones with plenty of vaseline ,replaced hatch rubber seal at the 2 sides & pleased to find it all works nice & neatly.Shall check next time it rains hard

Cheers for the comments! Hopefully should be on in the next couple of weeks once I've sorted all the brakes.

I had a brake refurb planned and had swapped messages with someone on here but the timelines were working against me so I ended up at the proverbial door of "Custom Calipers" in Derby.

2 weeks saw my M030 brakes go from this:

To this:

Looking good David!

I too have been on the brake hype...

Stripped down my 996 GT3 Mk1/TT Calipers and had them powder coated.

You'll have to excuse the absolutely filthy car!

I've also upgraded the master cylinder to the 740i one a lot of people use in the states. Got to finish bleeding it all but pretty happy with how it all looks at least [:)]

Yesterday I drove my 951 for the first time in nearly six years.

The poor thing was sitting in my sister's garage for 5 years after I couldn't afford to pay for an MoT failure of epic proportions.

Thankfully, the decision to keep the car rather than cash it in for sod-all has paid off - following a few months at Cotswold Porsche Specialists it's back on the road and I think driving better than at any point in my 13-year ownership.

Took it for a blat up the M5 at lunchtime and it was most exhilarating. [:D]

Some of the main things that have been done to get it back on the road:

- New Brakes (disks, calipers, backing plates, pipes, pads, handbrake & cables)

- New power steering cooling pipe & reservoir

- New steering rack

- New rear suspension

- New fuel pipes & tank strap

- NS Sill replacement

- Half a respray! (the other half will come when I do the OS sill)

- New belts

- Lots of new seals + some new pulleys

- Water hose replacement

- Various new wiring and other electrical bits

Chuffed to bits... and thrilled to have ensured another x years of life for the car - I hate to see any old Porsche flogged off for spares.

Here's "during" and "after"...
