what did you do to your 944 today

I've had an issue with my turbo so removed it last week and it's been sent off to Turbo Dynamics for a bit of fettling.

While you're in there jobs have consisted of removing an inch of sludge from around the AOS and replacing the obviously gone seals, having the alternator refurbed and a general clean and tidy up.

Have also had the inlet Manifold re-powder coated as it was a bit tatty and I know how much 944Man loves the red !!![sm=kiss.gif]

What spec are you going for on the turbo ?

Keeping the K26 housing as not got the appetite for custom mounting solutions at this moment in time. Keeping the #8 hot side wheel and having the shroud machined out to fit a larger billet compressor wheel on the cold side with 360 degree modern bearings on the main shaft.

Should be good for up to 340-350 bhp with minimal downtime and sensible costs.

Did the turbo builder have a suggestion about how much boost it could run ?

Sorry - I missed this, yes - reccomended efficiency range is up to 20psi before it starts running out of puff.

At 18psi I should see around 330bhp but a lot more mid-range and much greater area under the curve as boost is held longer and comes on sooner.

Final specs are a machined out cold side housing, larger billet compressor wheel with bigger surface area, new hardened shaft with uprated 360 degree bearings and a billet replacement #8 hot side wheel.

£415 + VAT including the courier there and back.

Sounds like a bargain, sort out the intake tube/air filter too and it should fly. When do you expect to have it running ?

Are you in my kitchen?

Got all the 3" inlet plumbing laid out on the table [:D]

Been a busy few days, getting ready for a trip in a few weeks.

Replaced rear callipers & caliper brake pipes. Changed the gearbox oil to Castrol syntrans 75/90, what came out was as black as a pint of Guiness, whine is much quieter now which is a bonus. All new front arb bushes, droplink brackets, stiffener brackets, nuts and bolts. New alternator and ps belts, replaced coolant temp sensor too.

Just sourced two new sachs front struts, so will be fitting those soon, along with a refresh of the rear arb bushes, brackets, droplinks and rear shocks if I can get hold of some for a reasonable price. Every bolt/eccentric bolt and nut on the front and rear shocks/droplinks look totally gone, so sourcing those is going to be a pita no doubt.

:ROFLMAO: Post a pic when you sort it all out.

Drained and bleed brakes and clutch.

So nice to change the horrible stuff for nice clean new. Although one man bleed kits are crap! Lol

this was yesterday but I got measured and fitted for my penguin suit.....just need to write/rehearse my speech now...:)

Busy day today, torque tube went back in along with the rear suspension and scrubbed the rear inner arches clean. Also found time to change the gearbox output shaft seals, fluid change and fitted the new short shift linkage.

As long as the weather is good the gearbox goes back in tomorrow.

I got the seals from my local OPC [:D] Forget using the tools to pick out the seals the easiest way I found was to firstly clean up the seal face and surrounding area, then remove the spring from the back of the seal (mine came out really easily) next with a Stanley knife cut away the inner seal lip of the seal which will leave you with a rubber covered L shaped section of the seal. With a decent pair of side cutters nip the outer edge of the seal and twist it inwards, keep doing this at around 1.5cm intervals all the way around the seal and eventually you will find it will buckle inwards allowing you to remove it without damaging the face the seal sits on.

Replaced:
