tauben blue holds her colour well even when not washed for a six weeks or so,,,jasonp

So, I packed up all my bits and bobs, cleaned her down went for a little drive and then locked her up on jack stands to wait out the winter. Got a few jobs on the cards as she's in hibernation.

Some of my best drives in the turbo have been on crisp, dry winter days. Bike will be laid up any day now though.

Mine will be my daily driver.

It's newer than my van. Lol

Finally got led indicators working.

Given up on sunroof fault until spring.

Should be booking MOT next week.....

EXCITING!

The good news is that after 8 weeks of major surgery, my car is now being primered.

The bad bad news is that it’s going to be the end of the month before it’s all back together.

(Oh, and this year’s total expenditure on the car will be about £11k+)

You convinced me to buy this car 5 years ago Jim!!!

£1200 on the ECU

£1000 on interior stuff

£800 turbo rebuild and “while you’re in there’s“

£6000 in bodywork

£1000 on new seals, sundries, other bits and bobs.

£1000+ on under bonnet shiny bits and a numberplate

Only about £20k behind my yearly 944 spend and there's no chance of mine being back together this year !

Do you feel a whole lot better now son ?

I’ll drive mine too Paul!

Whilst I’m not doing ”the full ruddy” my car has had lots of previously poorly repaired areas attended too and has become a full glass-out job.

Busy day.

Wax-oiling door cavities.

Repairing driver door lock.

Fitting new door stay strap bracket.

Re-attaching rear spoiler.

Refitting door cards.

MOT booked for tomorrow.

I wouldn't use Waxoyl at this time of year, it will trap moisture which will rust quicker, a lot quicker... I was taught this many years ago... I had a very interesting chat with a retired paint expert a few days ago ( a fellow model engineer) who used to own a paint company...he's also a car enthusiast...anyway we got talking about storage and the benefits of garage over sitting outside....his response was keep the car outside, it will rust quicker when parked inside...something to do with heat and condensation....I was not convinced until he asked did I watch Car SOS?, who doesn't I said...he then reminded me of the general state of the cars in the program that had been stored in a garage...I then got his point...:)

Yeah agree, never wax a damp car.

Luckily or maybe not.

This one has been a a bone dry work unit since August.

And cold air carries less moisture.

IE..... perfect conditions.

Failed! 😢

Only little things though. Fog light (fixed) and rear brakes binding.

Just clean up and get them moving in and out abit???
