what chipset did you buy? And are you running standard injectors with it?

PS. I have just paid off the credit card this month for the mammoth amount of money I had to spend last year on my engine rebuild with more mods which is a great feeling but I still have to rebuild the whole motor as itโs in a million bits all scattered around my house in the warm much To my wifeโs disgust!

I went with the JMG chipset in the end. I was very tempted to go VEMS or Augment but I know if I went down the standalone route, the mods would never end! Iโve kept the standard injectors for now, it will have the usual mods though, 3 bar FPR and wastegate, fuel pump etc. Iโm really trying not to go crazy with this car, I have a heavily modified mk1 MX5 with 400hp and I kinda went too far with it. It was perfect around 300 and could be used daily and still fast enough to surprise a lot of cars. Infact because it was so good I made the mistake of trying to extract another 100 horses out of it, but over 200hp per litre is pushing it! I know what Iโd really like to do with the 951 but I really must resist, Iโll just keep telling myself that!!! Iโm lucky with the missus, she a petrolhead herself, the MX used to be her daily, and she insisted on launch control!

yes your correct On that, I shall check tommorow and yes my very expensive block and custom cylinders are home with me and currently living in our fitted wardrobes along with the racing pistons and rods ect ect I even have the polished crank in there as it says so cold when I got this all back that I was fearing any of it rusting or oxidising. Even the bliMin Clutch is cosy in the wardrobe.
i was meaning to pm you to thankyou for the link to your build that I wanted to read through again to refresh my knowledge on a few important bits and I then realised that all your photos where no longer there! is there any chance you have them saved anywhere ? They were what I was looking forward to to refresh my brain for when I start .
bloody photobucket this also has appended to me when i did a massive informative gunsmithing project to help people on one of my forums and itโs a real shame as I lost all of the photos on that write up where I was showing technical information on how to produce obsolete vintage rifle parts.
i had all the photos on an old phone so wasnโt able to re upload

thats what chipset I changed to to run with all the bits youโve described from jmg along with a fair few other like intercooler , bigger injectors ect but the Car was awesome I cant explain enough how in a different league it was before ine of my cylinders split right through I didnโt really get time to enjoy it after spending best part of ยฃ6000 just on parts through the post then 6 months to fit then at night but Iโve got to go through that all again now and then some but I tell you what itโs all worth the hastle when itโs done and I wish I could blink my eyes and drive it again thatโs for sure.
Yoour mx5 must be absolutely a monster to drive at that power. What a little beast that must be in the dry!!!
believe me you will do the same to your 944 turbo in time, I said the same as you and now becuase my cylinder split and Iโve stripped to bare parts and it ruined my pistons, I ended up having bespoke racing rods made which are 200 grames lighter than originals and racing pistons the same as Pete has called IASA which Iโm looking forward to , along with more treats like new clutch, got my flywheel lightened, got everything balanced, crank polished bought a crank scraper, modded the head with a vent for air in the cooling passage , and doing a port and polishing job on the head and manifold ect ect so all this because someone put too much boost through my engine (not me!) once you start it just becomes an excuse at least thatโs what I say to my wife
good luck and your deffinately going to enjoy

Dan do a search on google for a fix to the PB issue...just search for 'photobucket fix' for the broswer that you are using, I'm not sure if there are fixes for all browsers but there was for Chrome which I'm using , plus a few others.

This left the mirror housing just held on by the wiring,so I removed the entire mirror having to disengage the pin connectors from the nylon connecting block inside the mirror. Was relieved to find that instead of a sheared swivel stem, the whole stem had been pulled from the threaded section in the mirror housing, but nothing cracked or damaged too much.
Made a special tool to assist re-assembly-really a 250mm length of steel flat 25 wide x 6 mm thick with a central hole 13 mm dia which was placed on one of my socket set longer extensions followed by the special adaptor holding the largest Torx bit I have in my set .This then allowed my son ( specially commissioned to drop by for the event) to easily apply downward force onto the torx adaptor top whilst I used the ratchet to drive the swivel tube back into the thread in the mirror housing, having applied a generous amount of Loctite to the thread.
Left it to set over the weekend & refitted the complete mirror this evening-all electrics work correctly & swivel fixing appears sound.

The knock back feature is controlled by a rather strong Spring which fits around the hollow mirror stem & has what look to be Nylotron(graphite inpregnated nylon) cone washers at each end to form spherical bearing seats around which the mirror housing rotates when knocked or manually set closer to the door.
The "special "tool is to allow compression of this spring whilst screwing the hollow stem back into the threaded socket in the mirror housing. This mirror & base are both alloy die castings.

wasn't expected for about another month coming from HK with free postage, very impressed. Anyway some will guess what it's for, I just need to get the other part and then book time on my son's ramp to fit it,,,could be another 6 months then before I can show it fitted...we shall see...
