what did you do to your 944 today

Picked my Black 1990 turbo up from OPC Leicester, straight through MOT no advisory notes, took it for a spin got it hot and put it straight back in the garage, don't want to get any flies on it,brake dust,or volcanic ash,or leave it in the sun,or park it near anyone,or someone might look at it funny and upset it[:D] Love that car so much i want to be buried with it so noone else can have it[:D]

Took my newly purchased 1984 Square Dash for MOT. I like my guys as they allow me to be the 'assistant' and then have a good nosey in the pit at underneath. Failed on 1 headlamp bulb( forgot to check that but they will pop one in ) plus needs about 3" of nearside sill welding as its got a small hole. Strangely the offside is near perfect with all drain holes exactly as new but nearsides all blocked - hence the rot. Quite chuffed for a 1984 car that aint bad.

Replaced both door handles as one of the actuating arm pivots had snapped. That is a pig job !!! do-able but, very fiddly. Took off door cards to try and improve the accessibility (cant see any thing as there is a plate in the way so waste of time. But good job I did, as the the previous owner had the door glass and lock smashed by a thief and the garage had obviously taken the card off to help with the glass refitting (they hadn't bothered to clean the glass out of the bottom of the door-i mean why would you tidy up you go!! they were only employed to replace glass). Anyway, they had torn of the plastic moisture guard and replaced it with a super thin bin bag material looked like one of theose seat covers they put on to show they care, which wasn't even covering the apertures and was torn, I mean the plastic is there for a very good reason-stupid lazy ###! So bottom of door card was wet and had "blown" at the fixing points, its some sort of soft fibreboard so, not exactly a moisture lover. Out with the fibreglass repair kit and couple of hours later repaired, bottom and fixing clips all properly located. Then went out and bought for a fiver, a big sheet of thick polythene Damp Proof Membrane from builders merchants and replaced both sides. Faint smell of resin now!

Just sorted hand brake, new shoes & free'd the links !!! Then MOT...ye harrrrrrrr straight thru...another year trouble free :) Just goitta love 'em :)

The shorts! always the shorts.

It is obviously the MoT time of year! Mine is next week, so in readiness I ordered a complete set of 8 MO30 front ARB Bushes + a droplink from OPC Cambridge who were very helpful, mine wasn't down as having the MO30 ARB so it must have been upgraded at some point (probably when it was lowered) they should arrive Tuesday/Wednesday and cost £46, over £20 cheaper than I had seen them anywhere else! I also ordered a new windscreen, they knew it needed a radio aerial built in and had one in stock so they are coming out tomorrow - Result!

Agreed nowhere better for those parts than the OPC, just hope they don't run out at Porsche anytime soon, they have a habit of doubling the price when they start a new run of parts lol MOT thing must be everyone getting ready for summer [:D] Tax on Tuesday [&:]

Turbo S, oil, filter, fuel filter new hose filter to body, undertray cleaned in the parts washer touched some underbody protection up and chucked cavity wax here and there and a general once over underneath, managed to get a drip of petrol in my eye changing the filter, boy does it sting. Going to finish machine polishing over the weekend with a nice coat of quality wax to finish. Fitted fire extinguisher, slight brake shudder to sort.

Realised the MOT was due. In fact overdue. [&o] Taking it to it's second home tomorrow. It's a bit like taking your dog to the kennels and it is happier to see them than when you get back from holiday, but the car always seems to enjoy it's "by the hour" care. [:D]

cleaned the inside of mine last night, the first time i've done it since last october [&o] going to give the leather a good spruce up too this weekend if i have time. other than that, just enjoying driving her.[:D]

Visited the Porsche workshop of a friend in Germany near Stuttgart, it gave me the opportunity to stretch the legs of the turbo and get the closed loop boost control sorted. The thing is so fast it's almost embarassing... I didn't dare push it past 150mph as it wants to take off whenever I open the throttle, even lightly, and at those speeds the steering gets so light it doesn't inspire much confidence [8|]

[:D][:D] Windsecreen man turned up with correct Windscreen but the wrong surrounds, he had the plastic 3 piece one which I presume is for a square dash car? He spotted it right away and was very apologetic, he was going back to the depot to stand over the parts man to make sure he ordered the right parts, he is coming back Monday

Took the car for an MOT friday and was quite surprised to fail! Headlight bulb (now replaced - obviously haven't been driving enough at night) and corossion on two rear brake lines! Glad the mot exists. That's not something I think to check. No advisories though and made up for this disappointment with a bloody good b-road thrashing![:)]

Had a slight hesitancy coming onto boost so took the opportunity to fit my new plugs, cap and arm that have been sitting for ages. Also cleaned my k&n panel (which was well gunked) and treated her to £50 of v-power. Hesitancy gone and running sweet as a nut. [:D] No idea what was the actual cause it but all the things I changed had seen better days and the filter was disgusting. Happy days! Stuart
