what did you do to your 944 today

Finished repairing the cracked exhaust joint, removed the centre silencer and replaced with straight through pipe, refitted it up, looked spot on, started the engine to check if gas tight, noticed a slight leak from head to manifold gasket, tightened the nut ........ Oh ****, snapped a stud!!!!! Fixed one leak only to create another!! At least its all cleaned up ready for Sunday

I got the my newly rebuilt engine all back together and back in the car with out support! See the link for full details [link=http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=readersrides&thread=102454&page=5]944 engine rebuild - the engines back in the hole![/link]

Took mine down to the local garage for a much need jetwash. Was just drying her off when a guy came over who turned out to be an ex 944 Turbo owner. Ended up having a really good chat - As usual he said how much he missed his car and this despite the fact he now has a 993TT which he has lavished a huge amount of money on in terms of engine, suspension and brakes. Said he never uses it ! Chatted for quite a while as my car dried all smeary in the sunshine [&o] Nonetheless its always great to have these unexpected encounters with either current or ex 944 owners. Of course after that I had to take her for a blast round the area - lovely run in the sunshine. [:)]

Changed transaxle fluid. What came out looked old but ok. Bright blue swepco 201 gone in, so we'll see how that goes. Now just need to sort wiring or sender unit on rear offside to get rid of the brake pad wear light....!

Gave it a good clean in preparation for the Tipec Porsche Show at Hatton Country World in the morning [:D]

Picked mine up from it's MOT today...passed with a couple of advisories, one of which I will be sorting out tomorrow. That is it's third MoT in a row that it has gone straight through, as mark said at TWG, "A 996 wouldn't do that!"

Sold the '83 Guy didn't even go for a drive in it..... I reversed it off the drive so they could get a better look all round and came back 10 min later with the cash!

Blimey, result for you but mad not driving a car you're buying

Today I swore a lot at the rhd wiper linkage in true Cleremy Jarkson fashion. Wipers had packed up for no apparent reason. They worked perfectly back in March when it howled with rain on our way to a dispaly in Windsor. Any way after much cussing finally got the casting sufficiently out to get to the screws on top of the wheel box where the self park contacts are. One contact looked out of line with the others so I tweaked it back into line and replaced the screws and off the motor went. By the way if we are recording mileage mine has jsut ticked over to 41,000.miles

Could not believe it. Father and son obviously had older cars before, looked at it, I started it and reversed it about 20 feet, father, quite tall , checked he could fit and the lights popped up ok! That's it! When I got the 2.7 I had never seen it (eBay and 190 miles) so I can sort of understand, but when you have the opportunity to take your time, test drive etc, and not use it seems very odd. They only live a mile away so they have probably seen me blastin sorry driving around the area. But even so very surprised!

Changed out the NSF ARB Bushes now that the final one had arrived, makes a massive difference. Ably assisted by Rhys, Aged 8:

Did 160 miles in the Turbo S today, down through the lakes to Kendal OPC, then to the Lakeland motor museum which was well worth a look along with the Donald Campbell museum, then a blat home up the M6/A66. Car was faultless, though no superplus go go juice at the BP station so a leisurely drive home without hitting big boost :-( Washed dried and put to bed. Off to Carlisle in the 220 which has stood quiet for a week or so tomorrow, if i get time will have a go at a few " to do" jobs on it, busy day though.

Wow. Mucho shiny! Impressive work, sir.

Thats coming along superb, wish I had the time to do that to my engine, looks amazing! For me I finally got around to removing the hideous Multi Lock, been waiting to get hold of a new stick surround as the old one was bucthered to fit the mutli lock. Forgot to take a pic, but you all know what it looks like with a multi lock in the way lol

looking good ^^^^ Did some miles in the cab and fitted the black centres back to the black wheels ( they had been on the coupe with its silver track wheels whilst I had the silver cup 1 centres on the black cup 2s) Looks small next to my nephews giant Cinquecento Sporting :) Tony

Took the door card off the passenger door to try and see why the window switch on the drivers door will work fine (powering the passenger window that is) but the switch on the passenger door will start to open but then stop and won't even attempt to put it back up. Must be a wire or connection issue somewhere as the drivers side switch powers it fine (so I know the motor is good and the glass isn't stuck) - oh well I'll find the cause eventually. Oh and discovered that of all people Nokia made the speakers in the symphony installation - interesting, I guess most on here knew that but something new I learn't today!

Thanks CarreraRSR - I did that, I also swapped the switches around from the drivers side to the passenger side and same deal, I know the switches are good. I did take the connector apart too and that looked good, no corrosion and the wires were soldered in so contacts all look good. Appreciate the suggestions though, I'll keep looking!
