what did you do to your 944 today

Took her for a blast up the A12 from Colchester to Ipswich and then watched Apocalypse Now on the big screen. First time I've seen it in the cinema since 1979. A masterpiece

I had no idea the speaker packs were Nokia either, until I stripped the door. The wiring is very complicated for the windows, the passenger side wires even for the switch in the passenger door, goes through the drivers door too!

Went to jm garage to arrange a new head and top end rebuild, and somehow ended up agreeing to a load of mods at the same time. So, that's another 3 or 4 k committed, but Jon is confident that the rolling road will show the car to have at least 320 bhp. Which will be nice. Should be ready in about two weeks, when i look forward to a spirited drive home.

Had a drive down to the Metro Centre to a classic meet that goes on down there every 2nd Wed. met a another ex 924 owner who's bought himself a 944, and then off to the chippy on the way home [:D]

Just looked at it in its shed. 'sigh' True Love! Bring on the next track day so I can test Kevins work!

I have lost my car to my 4yr old nephew Evin... He has for the last few months been going into the garage at home and looking at it calling her "The Horsey Car" [:D] .. He says its his car....! Last Sunday I was home and got a battery and fired up the 944 for the first time in months ... Evin was really excited watching the car being taken out of the garage .... ! A quick check that all was well and I put in his seat in the passenger side and off we went for a 20mile round trip.... ! I have agreed to "share" the car with him ! The notion is now on and I have sent a list of parts I need to our OPC Agnews in Belfast.. Starting at the top she needs belts, waterpump, full service, new leads and cap , wishbones, Caliper plates need to be sorted, She needs NCT and tax.. Id say Im talking the price of a good carbon racing bicycle......! [:D] I intend going on the road proper in July... I canny wait.....

Took it along to the monthly classic & American night at the Metro Centre, then as I was off work today decided to tackle the toast rack and back corners of the rear arches [:)]

Drove down to Aylesbury for a meeting (where it clicked over onto 213k on the way), one of my colleagues saw my car in the pub car park afterwards and said that he was thinking of getting one for his son as their next project. He has a Cobra with a 289 block that is almost re-built and a Defender that is almost prepared for a trek up to the north of Norway next winter followed by a little drive to Kenya next summer (he is an ex-Marine and his son is in the Army so have a taste for adventure) so we had a good petrolhead chat over lunch!

A seized passenger door leccy window meant stripping out the door, removing the actuator to clean and regrease the gears. Now working fine and the operation was a lot quicker than the first time I did it when the drivers door one failed.!!! [:)]

Enjoyed driving it to and from work! I love it! Just back from boston where we rented a chevy impala, a big unresponsive boat with no acceleration, tiny brakes and the steering wheel apparently wasn't connected to the wheels. Such a delight being back in the porker again.

Did nothing but make sure they are still in piece, family stuff tomorrow, and will have an afternoon on the 220 fettling some niggle jobs, a noise from the passenger door is spoiling the car for me [:(]

Began stage one of clutch inspection. It's great owning a turbo sometimes. Inatke manifold off. Crossover pipe off. Entire exhaust rear section dropped from car. All on my back on the drive [] I wonder if the missile would consent to installing a four post lift on the drive [:D]

Rob I know what you are talking about, I've got it all to do again soon when I change the clutch on mine as its started to judder.... Last time I've needed to drop a gearbox was in the winter.....

went to the garage looked at at it for a bit then came home. Will go down tomorrow and get stuck into it again.[:D]

Went to the NCT centre in Galway (on the bicycle [:D]) and took herselfs logbook with me.... She was never tested before now and thus is not on their system ! My insurance never asked for it before and didnt ask this year but it sbetter to have her tested . The car still has the old style brown logbook [;)]. So I went to the girl on the desk and she was confused so she got #1(Brian) in the centre... He said "ohhhh a 944 ..." ... For a change he knew exactly what I was talking about .... He faxed the taxbook to his head office and I will get a date with destiny next week ... Brian said he is responsible for the testing of any cars 20+ years old and said that he was looking forward to seeing my car in... ! We had a full discussion on what I need to do to have my car up to spec... I got a good feeling as at last I have come across an inspector with a bit of savvy for a change... Or are they trying to lulll me in to a false sense of security [8|].....

Hi Vanhire ,I'm in Meath and have my retest tomorrow night at 9.30 pm! , failed two weeks ago on the long handbrake cable ,which I got from opc in south Dublin . Surprised at how cheap the cable was at 58 euro incl. postage. Best wishes with yours on nct , did you see that tv programme on nct[;)]

Took a drive over to OPC Cambridge to pick up my clutch bolts. Then bolted it onto the flywheel. Felt nice to actually start putting stuff back on the car [:)] Incidentally the new bolts were allen head screws and not 12 points like the ones that came off, which threw me a bit but they were the correct number and came from OPC and a perfect fit.

"Incidentally the new bolts were allen head screws and not 12 points like the ones that came off," Same as the c/v joint bolts.
