what did you do to your 944 today

I missed the sound of the engine and the school-boy feeling of putting the head lights up so I decided to drive the Porsche to ASDA to do the weekly shop. The clutch pedal sank to the floor and scuppered my plans. [:(]

Oh gutted Simon, that's not good? Fluid leak do you think? You can't beat pop-up head lights though, as long as you can still do that you're ok [;)]

bad luck [:(] I was checking my level the other week and found the fluid had changed to a really thick gloop ? I guess I can expect my clutch to pack up soon [&o] Are you going to replace the seals in the master and slave cylinders ? or replace with new cylinders ?

Got new front tyres on, replaced my rusting Gaz front struts (replaced under warranty) and did front geo set-up on my mate's super duper alignment machine. Now going nice and straight and hopefully get more than 8,000 miles from this set of tyres.............. Also flicked my FQS to position 1, +3% fuel standard injectors, to alleviate slight leaning at full boost issue. I have a motorsport fuel pump, new filter and AFR gauge which will hopefully get done on Sunday. Stuart

I think I might need to get the battery charged up so I can pop the lights and make 'brum' noises on the drive until i get it fixed! Looks like it's the master cylinder that's gone. The fluid is now soaked into the carpet [:'(] On an entirely un-related subject, my other half makes a fantastic Cottage pie...[;)]

I remember you posting that pic before. I was so worried that I went and checked mine straight away. It didn't seem to be a problem, but now that all the fluid has drained away there's a horrible sticky residue left at the bottom of the resevoir that looks suspiciously like your gloop. I'm going to price up seal kits and cylinders. I'm not worried about stripping and rebuilding the cylinders, but if I can get cylinders for not too much I might just change the lot to have the peace of mind.

ORIGINAL: DavidL Stuart, Isn't that the second time you've had new front struts from Gaz under warranty?
Well spotted David. It is in fact me just getting round to fitting the original replacements!! Just in time for the winter to attack them. [&:] Hopefully these ones will be better. The rears are still in not bad shape after 2 years. My warranty is now up however so here's hoping they last! Stuart

Picked up my engine gasket set from Porsche Glasgow and came away with an invite to the 901 launch .Not bad really and still the cheapest set I could find.I just love those "origional porsche parts" stickers they put on the boxes.

let me know if you find a reasonably priced source and I'll do the same. The list of work needed on my S2 now is so long I'm thinking of sticking it in my garage until spring .[&o]

ORIGINAL: 944 man Will greasing them help at all Stuart?
I would say it can't hurt Simon. I'll give them a smearing at the weekend. I think the solution will be grit blasting and painting them if they rust again. The nickel plating doesn't seem to be the best solution although they look fabulous when new! Stuart

Lol! A man after my own heart! I've still got the first one I purchased in my history file which was a centre console hinge! Stuart

I used mine for a 250 mile trip yesterday and a 260 mile one today, hit 222,000 miles this morning! Must try and get a picture of 222,222, which should happen when I take my lad on the 52 mile round trip to school in the morning Here we go!

Picked up my re-trimmed burgundy pinstripe sports seats.... look great! Replaced the fabric bolsters with vinyl and took the opportunity to replace the sides and backs at the same time to ensure there was no colour mis-match with the vinyl.

Ordered new HT leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm from Andy at Promax and I was very happy with the price (thanks Andy) Looking at the state of the cap & rotor now wonder the tick over was not too smooth.

Treated mine to a new pair of Falken 452s on the back (255/40R17) so it has good tyres all around for the first time ever! The old falkens lasted for 28,000 miles which I think is pretty impressive for a car like this and the way I drive! (they probably should have been changed 3,000 miles or so ago <ahem>)

Took her for a drive, first one in about 2 weeks, and when cruising up the M3 the accelerator stuck open and she started to take off - was a little hairy for a moment, fortunately a gentle tap on the pedal released it again. I have to say I'd prefer to have this happen than the brake failure as some on here have experienced but it was still not a pleasant experience. Other than that just started to 'plan' out 2012 and what I'd like to get done on her, so far the list reads: 1. Resolve the whining noise when warm from clutch/torque tube 2. Respray on the front - following poor prep on previous stone chip repsray causing tiny bubbles coming through. 3. Repair sunroof mechanism 4. Replace rubber seals on door windows and sunroof 5. Repair the bolsters on drivers seat (and fix one of the motors) 6. Resoundproof and install some better speakers (only a nice to have, they're really not that bad at the moment). Looks like it could be an expensive year ahead :)

Drove it! After lots of toing and froing with a leaking power steering rack it finally seems to be sorted. Put about 100 miles on her this weekend in dry and wet conditions. Am absolutely loving this car! Best car i have ever had the pleasure of owning/driving!
