what did you do to your 944 today

when cruising up the M3 the accelerator stuck open
Have you had her jacked up recently? If so, the floorpan is possibly slightly bent, leading to the sticky pedal - cure is a good sized block of wood and a lump hammer to push the floor back a little!
 
Installed a bluetooth car kit for the phone, wired into the radio, separate aerial, microphone etc. - cant believe how big the harness is and took the opportunity to install the radio properly!

No, haven't had her up since I had the tyres changed earlier this year and even then I made sure they used the central jacking point. I hope it just needs a little cleaning up - I did search and read the other posts about the floor pan
 
Could be carpet or mat caught or something stuck in the track at the back of the pedal or the cable needs lube or possibly its starting to fray (unlikely as it worked with a tap to release)
 
Used the e-bay 924S for a fast blast upto to Worthington near Standish to watch an autotest which was part of the Hero classic Lands End to John O' Groats rally.ended up getting roped in as a marshal for the stage-only 29 cars surviving out of 63 or so-only Porsche that came through was a 928 which was thrown around the cones with great gusto & that lovely V8 growl! John Hartley was also there helping (also R18 member) -his Swiss tour with his mustard colour Rally 911 was recently featured in Porsche Post.

Fitted my AFR gauge and also replaced my back box which had completely sheared at the rear of the silencer! [&:] I thought it had been a bit noisy. It was also messing up AFR readings. Anyway, all sorted now. Probably lost a few BHP on my dyno run with that shambles of an exhaust. Might get to 300BHP once I have my custom stainless made. Forgot to add, Alasdair says my carbon plate is gay. I quite like it!! Stuart

Had a lovely weekend away at a manor house somewhere between Ross on Wye and Hereford. Since the last bit of fettling by Ninex the car runs better than ever. Cruised smooth as silk back down the M4 at, ahem the speed limit (ish). Don't know why everyone else was going so slowly... It's taken over a year and cost an absurd amount of money at RPM and Ninex, but the car is now just lovely to drive day in and day out. It does seem that those deferred maintenance items are sorted out now. What a wonderful car it has turned out to be!

When mine did this it turned out the return spring on the `fast' peddle had disappeared ?? - a replacement spring cured the problem ( still haven't found the original ?? ) Check to see if yours is missing or has come unhooked at one end. HTH Norm
 
Hello I am new here, may I ask what is the benefit of the AFR gauge? How does the turbo gauge differ to the default one? Cheers Julian
 
The gauges only really come into their own when you start to modify your car. When running enhanced boost you need to ensure that your car isn't running too lean with thextra boost as that almost crtainly spells destruction for you engine. Again when you are running extra the dash gauge is not terribly accurate and can only measure up to 15 psi or 1 bar. Note that Porsche bigged it up a bit by making read absolute pressure. That is up to 15 psi plust the 15 psi or 1 bar or atmosphere that exists all the time.
 
Took my turbo to the body shop for a complete respray. It was Alpine White but I'm swapping to Grand Prix White, which is a cleaner, brighter white. They'll refurb the Cup 1 alloys at the same time. And what with then fitting all new decals and badges, it should look factory-fresh. I pick it up again on Jan 30th, as a shiny but late Christmas present to myself.[:)]
 
Ewan, Nice to see another getting a new lease of life, the OCD in me says take pics and get the decals and badges put back on in the correct place, get them to repaint after cleaning the rear wheel arches makes a massive cosmetic difference, but you can do it with a rattle can as the finish is not that great under scrutiny anyhow, after Black my favourite colour for the 944 is white. Thats bound to upset a few of the Guards people [8D]
 
Forgot to add my xmas pressie was 16" Fuch for the 220 and a nice fleecy indoor cover for the Turbo S from Classic Additions Black with light grey piping and embroidered Porsche crest along with a healthy discount, thank you Classic Additions.
 
Picked up daughter last evening, opened the drivers window about 3 inches as usual but it wouldn't close! Wasn't currently raining but prolonged rain was forcast. Fuse ok, passenger window working, swapped switches over, passenger window still working, drivers side not. Removed door card, with all the multi speaker bits, which allowed access to the motor. Checked for power to connections on motor - ok and switching as required. So undid the 2 screws holding the motor to the mechanisum, slightly and tried the switch - working! Removed the screws completely and sprayed wd40 in and around the motor and mechanism, Replaced all the bits (checking still working at various intervals) and it now works faster than before. So if the motor stops working it may just need a little attention.
 
After lots of shopping around I ordered a nice master cylinder, slave and flexi hose for my baby. Hopefully I'll be able to get it sorted for the Rutland meet!
