what did you do to your 944 today

Good day! Good company. Good food - thanks Danni! Your bit was particularly tasty Rob[:)] Keep an eye on the fluid level, make sure I tightened everything up!

ORIGINAL: jwindwood Today, I soldered the heated rear window tab back to the element after knocking it off whilst fitting my hatch struts... Not an easy task as solder doesn't want to travel upwards and access is tight. Anyhow, I hope it will work-should be able to test it tomorrow morning....[;)]
Just to report back on this-it works perfectly! I sanded down the tab until smooth and clean, then cleaned both the tab and window strip with contact cleaner. I then superglued the tab to the window, on a fresh part of the strip and then soldered around it-only in a couple of places as it was difficult to do. And it works perfectly! Well pleased [:)]

ORIGINAL: spyro_x Took her for a drive, first one in about 2 weeks, and when cruising up the M3 the accelerator stuck open and she started to take off - was a little hairy for a moment, fortunately a gentle tap on the pedal released it again.
Fixed the above with some elbow grease and WD-40 cleaning up the throttle body springs etc - took her for a run to make sure, during which she gently reminded me to respect the rear wheel drive in the slightly slippy conditions.

ORIGINAL: Fat Albert Did the 320 mile round trip to Oswestry in Shropshire today, after dropping my lad off at school in Oundle. made good time so whn I got to Shrewsbury turned off the A5 to re-visit my old stomping ground and popped up to RAF Shawbury where the gate guardian is the last Wessex I flew in 1989 I have done 800 miles this week and the old girl passed 224,000 miles this morning! (I promise I will clean her this weekend!)
I hope you kept the Wessex in better order than you do your 44 ![:D] We will definitely need to see pics of the Wessex [;)] Thats an impressive mileage and says a lot for the driver comfort of the 944 .[:D]
Thanks Peanut, I actually cleaned her today!! When they get all caked in crud they start to look a little old and decrepid, but when you clean them it reminds you of how darn good they still look compared to modern stuff! Off to Theale tomorrow (240 mile round trip), I often do 5-6 hours a day in her and whilst the driver's seat is a bit thin on padding in places, she is still a great place to be for long drives. This is me hanging out of the door when I was young and had no sense:

Nice pic there, hope you didn't jump! Although I'm starting to think this pic and the lack of a pic of your shiny, clean 944 may be a diversionary tactic and maybe you didn't clean her afterall ;)

Sorry to say absolutly nothing. Looked a lot at it under it's expensive cover, and yes it really is working to keep the winter off but I really must[:'(] look at the ABS so can MOT and take off SORN

Was there a couple of weeks ago, we look after the ILS and DVOR/DME there, spent far too long looking at that Wessex over various trips! Tony

Nice one Tony, I bet they have to be tip-top with the Air traffic school there! I spent 6 months stationed there in 88-89 and did around 120 hours on Wessex before I was kicked out.... Here is proof that it was cleaned yesterday!

Its funny Shawbury is the only RAF ATC that doesn't claim they are busy, should we want equipment off or to stand on the runway for a bit. Then you go outside and there are 20 aircraft within sight all moving. Others they say they are really busy and you get 2 movements in 4 hours :) Tony

Haha Joss, look if I can make it to the gathering on the 5th, I might even try and clean it again...(unlike last year[:)]) Tony, Shawbury are also the most helpful to Light aircraft passing by too, I would guess it is because they want to instill some good behaviours in the studes Aircrew Lore states that there was a lovely sounding female Air Traffic Officer at Shawbury (who drove a skin-tight TR7) who one of the student pilots was chatting up and trying to arrange a meeting in the Mess bar over the radio on a quiet morning, when from the ether an anymous voice said (in a ghostly voice) "You'll be sorrrrrrrry!"

Took my red turbo to Porsche Leicester for a MOT and Wheel swap,I am taking it off TR888s for time being and going for some regular Toyo road tyres, also swapping the sunroof seal for a new one.No service required as it had a big one at Promax not so many miles ago. Next 944 bill is belts for the black one[]

ORIGINAL: A9XXC Good food - thanks Danni!
Cheers guys. Dani's very pleased that you enjoyed the food. She asked me to say that it was the least she could do because you guys were helping me so much. No fluid level drop and it's coping admirably well with the ice. It did try to scare me by snapping sideways on the way to work today though. The Volvo driver behind must have thought I was a hooligan!
