what did you do to your 944 today

Re-tensioned my auxiliary belts, fitted a new electric switch to drivers seat, serviced and greased hatch latches and discovered that my oil pressure switch has a slight leak although couldn't get anything near it to nip it up. One of the lads up here has a special bent spanner which I will have to borrow! Did have a chance to hoover under the drivers seat and find numerous things I had "lost" whilst doing various jobs inside car! [&:] Also with my new switch both seats seem to function when ignition is off which wasn't the case previously. Weird stuff. Stuart

Lost 1st and 2nd gear! Others seemed to work ok so drove home, only about 5 miles. I have been playing with a couple of mods on the linkage to stop the looseness, so I wasn't too surprised when it stopped working. However, a little investigation found this -

Which is not what I had expected! It is rather rust weakened, and I think it is a function of the mileage and use the car has had. I have another linkage (which has also been played with) so that is now on, and feels better than the last version.

When I parked after my drive home from the office she was sitting on 159999 miles. Alas it will tick over 160k sitting in traffic if I take the normal route to work. Perhaps I'll go the long way so it can be doing a reasonable speed on the motorway. Not as good as some of the rural roads near the office but the best possible alternative. Ian

Dropped it off to have new belts and water pump fitted plus picked up the set of mats I ordered from OPC Colchester.

Ticked over the 160,000 mile mark sitting stuck in traffic in the pouring rain waiting for the defroster to clear the windows...

why not plan a celebratory blast for this weekend and make a memorable day of it ![;)]

Yep thats what these are, they need a refurb but its not kerbing instead they are a bit scratched on the spokes. Still there is an excellent powder coater not far from me.

they look fantastic don't they ! I just wish that I had remembered to pressure wash the inside rims occasionally as they look rubbish once the crud has started to build up inside.

I can get a hand and a sponge inside the spokes to clean the inner rim, keep on top of them and they stay minty, my favourite wheel on a 944, Scott can i be cheeky and ask how much out of interest.

Fitted the new J boot that Alasdair came good on for me and also fitted my other little new toy while I was at it. Then I updated my signature to include the new toy [;)] Just need to a bit more fettling now and some playing around with the fuel quality settings.

After reading posts for months of everything that can be achieved in a few hours tinkering you lot have finally inspired me to get going on repairing my car, I have found a new spurt of enthusiasm and got cracking today - you'll start to get all kinds of naive questions over the next few weeks and I'm aiming to get to the Cotswold rally

Excellent! What do you need to do to get it back on the road? Edit: Never mind...I've just been reading through your other posts. I hope you can get it sorted.

They look good! Is that an e-type?

Simon, well spotted, that is an E-type, one of Al's many projects. I bought a set of D90's from him last week that were hiding behind it. Alasdair, what are you putting those wheels on? Alan.
