what did you do to your 944 today

ORIGINAL: A9XXC My standard (1989 2.7) alarm goes off in the rain (dont know why!) and having removed the wire from the horn it "talks" to me in bleeps from the alarm box but I've seen no flashing lights etc in the year (and a day!) I've had it. All I can say is try it, its not like its difficult to put back[:D] I have no idea about the Clifford one.
it could be dirty connections on your door courtesy lights. ? i think they are linked in to the alarm system. might pay to remove them and file the contacts and insertion hole .[;)] The usual tell tale is the relay jumping when opening and closing the doors

Yep, dirty door contacts, relay clicks like crazy when the door opens. Just cleaned mine. Fine now.

no call to be so smug.... lol[:D][:D][:D] I've just spent a frustrating hour removing a number plate .......one screw and I'm kernackered ! must be my age [:(]

Thanks for the suggestion, Nick, will try that when I've got a little time! Off this week Trying to decorate our bedroom before wife gets back on Saturday - odds are not looking good! A5 - Looks a lot better with the 16 teles, but I'm not a fan of any tele style wheels. Early cars can look good on 15s, depending on colour combination and tyre size. First pic is on 205/55 15 and the second 215/60 15 tyres and third is with smaller tyres and silver centres

Replaced the clutch reservoir, got tiny SS jubilee clips for the new section of blue feed hose, & got fed up by 9.45pm trying to get a "pedal" using my recently aquired pressure bleed bottle-the only cap that fits the reservoir doesn't seal very well so loses pressure & deflates the offside front tyre. May resort to tried & tested Management on the pedal,me under the car method tonight-probably add some rope under the clutch pedal to assist her to return it for the next push.Only one of my early Rover 627 Vitesse's was more of a cuss to bleed the clutch system through. Mike, don't splash the blow-up doll.[;)]

put some air in the tyres.![:D] Stuck waiting for the carwash next to the air supply so I thought I'd check the tyre pressures whilst I was waiting. ................20 lbs each [:(] Amazing what a little air can do the the steering and handling lol[:D] I was trying to think when it was I last put some air in the tyres .....mmmmmmmmm.......

ORIGINAL: edh yes - looks great (I like 16" teles, early offset ones particularly) How does it drive?
Not driven 'far' on them yet [;)] Only just put them on this morning, then re-newed the insurance (£130 [:)]), now off to the post office for a £215 sticker for the windscreen![] Got a set of 15" Teledial wheels up for grabs now. Darren

Got my Insurance Renewal and was expecting the worst as my Wife's 535D went up by £150 last month, but no, it has gone down from £385 to £355, result!! Editted to add that my Modded 2001 SAAB 9 3 Turbo cost me £480/year 4 years ago!

Drove it! First time in a year, I was a little nervous re:brakes not being very good and unsure how reliable everything else would be but I have really missed it. It was all very noisy since I don't have any carpet or sound deadening in it and a little warm since my heater is stuck on hot and my windows still don't work but I still love it and it goes round corners with so much more fun at much lower speeds than my daily driver.

Drove it, then as had the hose out to unblock my drain, thought I'd take advantage of the sunshine and dry weather and clean her in readiness for next weekend [:D]

Ooo---ogh,that sounds painful-I would normally eat more Allbran. Got the clutch cylinder bled right through with my wife's help on the pedal-she's really good at it after xxyears of marriage to a car DIYer. Decided I must get the 944Turbo antiroll bar fitted to the e-bay track car-1st attempt prior to last year's 964 Curborough day stopped when one of the bolts in the nearside aluminium bush bracket turned within the bracket & I ran out of time. This time soaked everything with a cocktail of WD40,Duck Oil,GS358?-wire brushed all threads-but still the locknut stiffened up on the external unused thread-however managed to clamp the bolthead to the steel wishbone with a large pair of Visegrips & got the nut off.All the others were no problem. Got the old bushes out by sawing through one side flange & pressed the new bushes in (slightly different design with smaller sideflanges) using brake fluid as lubricant & one of my steel vices, followed by various blows with a small ballpein hammer to centralise the bushes. It took several blows with a lump hammer & brake fluid to get the rebushed brackets onto the AR bar turned down ends -nothing else had enough impact-made certain beforehand that I had the correct handed brackets for each end-refitting to the car was simple except I managed to loose one of the locknuts-it must have pinged off somewhere-so had to fit a washer & M8 nut which I will replace shortly. Quick blast round Formby by-pass roundabout showed a marked improvement-the car staying very flat.Next stop-to get a S/H rear AR bar & fit that together with the camber adjustable eccentrics to replace the standard bolts in the rear radius arms.

What I didn't do!! Rushed around all day to get home early to Colour Cut the car after winter and ready for next weekend -raining as soon as I got home!

ORIGINAL: A9XXC Bet it feels strange, stiff at the front and rather loose behind.......

Mike, That's a bit personal [;)]-didn't drive it far enough to get the necessary messages but whipping round the roundabout ,it felt quite planted .

Fitted my period "Alpine" radio cassette and CD changer yesterday. Also swapped the original 924 type handbrake lever for a series 2 leather covered one-a BIG Improvement in appearance AND Function. Just stripped cleaned and reassembled my electric window switches to cure intermittant operation. Now working perfectly! [:D]
