what did you do to your 944 today

Nothing mundane about that mate 155bhp 52 mpg there and back today, comfortable fast and mega cheap to run. Ok it's a mondeo lol

fitted a steering column extension to bring the wheel slightly closer and give me a less "knees around the ears" driving position. Tightened the alternator belt (yet again).

Fitted new door pull straps ,fixed the door checks and started fitting a new st of speakers in a unusual place. The fixed nutes on the right door check have broken loose and in order to tighten or loosen the screws i decided to cut a hole in the kick pannel to get to the nuts, bad idea, there is a reinforcement plate behind there that is almoust impossible to remove but since i started this i had to finish the job . By the way ,i consider the mounting for the door checks a very bad design[] . While doing this i got an idea ,i had a pair of polk audio 3.5" speakers i have been trying to figure out how to fit in the front doors , while cutting the hole in the kick pannel i realised they would fit perfectly in there, they are also hidden from sight so it doesn't look odd.

Spent another several frustating hours trying to strip the paint of one of the alloys. I finally started to make progress thanks to some chemical help. I'm sure it will be very satisfying once it's done, but right now it's getting quite annoying. One thing I have learned is that I'll never do this again after this set!

Been there with the paint stripping off wheels thing.I ended up sending them away to be powder coated. They looked like they had lepresy at one point. Any not touched my car this weekend as the boys were really busy trying to get vans done for the Scottish VW owners club show at Biggar this weekend. So spent all weekend rebiulding freshly painted vans.Did my usual suspension and engine fitting duties. If anyone is looking for something to do at the weekend than come along to the show ground ( field) at Biggar and mix with the VW boys.Loads of air cooled and modern stuff around and a very family atmosphere. And these boys love Porsches as well.

My resistor pack failed today, but it seems to have mended itself now that the ambient temperature has dropped and fan speeds 1, 2 & 3 now work again, so didnt actually have to do anything... [:D]

Brought the 220 from my other garage, washed, and 3 coats of wax, wheels done also, Gliptone leather feed slapped on the seats, new windscreen tomorrow and going to get used all weekend as it is going to be sunny, will have another go at the sunroof problem. Le Mans Classic 6 weeks to go [:D]
