Clive - are you going to need something other than semi-slick tyres when you do your Swiss trip?
I'll be taking some tyre cutters along. []
Jan,Clive this sounds fantastic, I must admit I am biased as our car is Carrera white with sports seats and looks gorgeous!!
I hope you are going to have an open day so we can all come and drool all over it, I feel as we have all watched your car develop, we should have an opportunity to welcome the Gt2, a bit like a christening!!!
I can do better than that. How about me inviting contributions! [8|]

How did it feel for weight on the point and turn in compared to the 4* drive of the Turbos. Is it more direct? Obviously faster , less front weight. More understeer?
Or is it back to fidgetty?( but under control) .
Could you feel the backend or was this neutral ?
Completely awesome car but... do you like the 4*4 drive better (turbo) or has the electickery made the 2* less( tamed) upto its name?
Just off to put another bag of cement in the boot[]

Super write up . I can see that you will need surgery to remove the grin![][]

Thanks for the compliment. It's a very easy car to write about as it is so exciting.
Response is much sharper than with the TT - it is basically fairly neutral in handling, but it's perhaps unfair to compare since they are 2 completely different models coming from different directions.
It's a triumph of Porsche engineering that the TT is so good. Cars that both push and pull simultaneously generally tend towards understeer. As GT2 only pushes, the equation is less complicated, allowing engineers to focus in on other aspects of performance eg. increased engine power, reduction in weight etc. Reduced weight and more radical road tyres are major aspects in the gains.
The GT2 chassis is fully adjustable so, in theory, unlike most road cars, it can be made to handle in whatever manner the driver prefers.
Hope this answers your queries. Many thanks for your interest.

Regrettfully, I was unable to organise a factory-collect to coincide with our Swiss trip because the factory will be closed, [] but it should be here in time for a 1st. August registration so we could be using it from the start of the trip.
I just need to work out now how we can load all of Judy's luggage around that roll cage! [&o]
Thanks to dealer principal, Kevin, for all his help and the excellant luncheon![8D]

Clive

Excellent choice Sir....[8D]
only question is.. I thought extended navigation was standard now ? or is this the current name for navigation as I know it ??
garyw
Gary,
Bu******d if I know but they're taking £1,100 squids off me for it so it must be something special - also I think I'll need it when I lose sight of you lot and have to find my own way to the next stop. []

Little chance to do anything more than just enjoy that new car moment but first impressions are that everything is that bit leaner, meatier and meaner than the turbo. Clutch is heavier, gear throw shorter and in truth the box not as slick as the turbo. The seats are very comfortable, but I will have to stay off the pies, the ride is amazingly compliant and in normal driving no turbo lag to speak of.
My route home takes me up the A41 from M25 and there are one or two up hill sections where I registered a bit of boost pressure. I assume the speedo must be calibrated in km!
It's safely tucked up now out of the rain but when the weather improves it should be fun....
Nick
If the gearbox is anything like the GT3 it should loosen up nicely after a few thousand miles.
Don't think there's any doubt about the fun, hope you get better weather tomorrow !!
Cheers.
The colour is Meteor Grey, standard on GT2 and I believe elsewhere in parts of the range. Colour is always very difficult and I don't think the selection Porsche have on offer is anything special. In the end it was a balance between sufficient shine to pick up reflections but not so bright that it stands out like a beacon. Discrete and understated is what I was looking for, albeit perhaps not abiding characteristics normally associated with a GT2!
Pleased to hear that the gearbox should ease up with use, currently it is on a par with the 964RS (which for the golfers amongst you is nearer double bogey).
Noisewise I was probably hoping for something slightly more vocal. On the run home it sounded just the same as the turbo. No doubt the exhaust note improves as you push on but I do think it is something the Porsche have got consistently wrong from 996 onwards. From the air cooled cars having the best engine note on the planet "crisp as a metal flake Granny Smith" as someone once said to now when you can hardly hear the things. I run an RS4 as the family fordor and that has a gorgeous resonant bark. Where did it all go wrong with Porsche!
It's raining here, hence spending time writing this, so nothing to report but will keep you posted if the weather ever improves.
Having just read through this prior to posting it sounds a bit down beat. That isn't a fair reflection, this is a very special car.

...when they changed their target core market to be businessmen that just want quiet motorway cruisers.
LOVE your car though, looks great in meteor. I often think about retrofitting that front to my Turbo, it looks amazing.
Many congrats.
Please remember the 'respect' part of the Porsche campaign though when you go out in the wet [8D]
