Young man's first Porsche aka project 951

I dropped it with help of my son. I suppose it will go back easily when you have couple of extra hands available. It also helps if you have a car jack available, something like this

It's still tricky. It's not a difficult job just a bit of a faff.I really doesn't want to go in past the mounts for the torsion bar ( the ones up at the side of the tank) I used 2 lenghts of threaded bar in the bolt holes and slide the tank up them and used the mounts off the origional bolts to hold it in place while I wiggled it into place then put the straps on.As I said it's not a hard job to do just a very frustrating and sweary one.

Odd, i have done it few times and it has always been very easy job to accomplish. Some progress. Son re-assembled Gaz coil overs. Since red is one of the colors of our color scheme, Gaz blue had to go. Job was done by the same company our friend Antti use for his billet parts.Since we have a lot of Antti's parts, it's nice to have matching colors [;)]

All these billet parts look amazing!!! I 've only ever fitted one tank in a 944, done a few on other cars and vans though.Maybe I just made it harder than it was but still had to do alot of wiggling around to get the tank in.Although that said I was on my own with the car up on really high stands.

Tom, any pics available? Would be nice to see someone else to do such a crazy thing as we did [;)] Now we have to check out three sets of heat shields. Pick the best of them, clean, polish and install back to car body.

I love this thread, everytime you put an update on here I get excited to see the progress - your son's car is going to be one of the finest examples of a 944 Turbo around when its done! Great work!

Tomorrow will be a day for some arctic part digging. I am going to pick up "new" brake lines (ABS) from a friends yard. Only problem is there's some snow (about 1m) surrounding 944 S2 which will donate those vital parts, luckily it will be a bit warmer than -29C we had yesterday morning [:)] S2 wreck in October (no snow....)

There is also a 951 which has already given to son's project 951 it's AC system and some other parts... Restored AC unit on right taken from that wreck

ABS system will be a 951/S2/Boxster combo, so 951 ABS pump & "brains" will be replaced by a Boxster unit. Just bought a suitable ABS pump from UK.

First arctic digging session is over. Due the short time i had available, not much progress. Got to continue tomorrow. There is the part donator

Just love following this thread[:)] Where did the blue S2 come from? It appears to have Americian spec rear bumpers, is that correct?
