Let's see how well we can mechanically re-condition them first. Somehow i hate the idea of powdercoating/paintin them. Started to restore steering rack we got from a friend. It's a total mess, but still useable. Put it to the parts, now waiting for some soda blasting for aluminium parts and fresh yellow passived surface for "tube". I found ZF repair kit from my stock of unused parts (here's poor quality phone picturs)

Restored clutch cylinders.Removed surface rust, then re- painted them. Since we are on tight budjet we used Mercedes W124 rubber parts, which are a direct fit also to 951. Total cost less than €10
Did also some overhaul to son's Golf today. Nice pair in his garage
Some test fits
Disassembled calipers. Some difficulties with burnt seals, which glued pistons very effectively. Also had to use mig to couple of screws to be able to take them off. Otherwise "business-as-usual" caliper job. Now they are ready to get a new surface. Removing a stuck screw:

Warm weather continues, so when it is just about 30 Celsius, it's good time to practice some excercise which needs strong muscles Since i am an old fart, it's younger men business. My son put most of the rear axle to parts. Plan is to remove hubs & torsion bars tomorrow, after that these parts are ready to be media basted and some re-surface.
Olli - this project is making a superb thread, it is fantastic to see how the cars are put together. The photos and notes are great - keep up the good work! Mike
Would you be interested in getting an extra one made up? I need a new one for my rebuild project. What else are you getting made up?ORIGINAL: os951 A friend designed a new transmission mount for son's project. My friend have a nice set of CNC machinery and he promised make this trans mount and several other billet aluminium parts. First drawing of the new transmission mount. Type is a semi solid.
Just delivered 70kg various 951 parts to ZNC coating. Due the EU reculations, it's not possible to get that factory like yellowish surface anylonger(stuff is very poisonous). Shop i use make clear ZNC and a little bit lighter shade of yellow now.We decided to go with that.
-Camber plates
-Alternator/compressor bracket (picture is from a bracket made for a non AC car)
-Transmission cooler adapters to replace oem type looped cooler
-AOS plastic "jar" delete kit
-Transaxle carriers (can be seen from this group picture)
-Solid cam adjustment hole plugs (most likely we will re-design these. Looks too grabby and are quite similar what LR in the States sell.
-Adjustable cam gear (we have designed a new model, not picture of that yet)
And lots of another parts not mentioned. Most of the parts are ready and waiting for the installation. We have also some composite parts under manufacturing for son's car, both Glassfibre & Carbon fibre -Brake ducts

similar skirts under Markus' ex. 951 in Estonia
-CF mirrors, which a friend in Germany made for us
-Front splitter
All parts own production except the mirrors.
What comes to billet aluminum parts we are going to use, here's few: -Adapters for 951S front brake calipers(not picture available yet) -Engine stands(we have re-designed this item.Old version in the picture)What else are you getting made up?

Starting point was quite dirty
Disassembled unit
