Heater/AC unit install is near, so we checked out inside dashboard wiring. Otherwise it looked more or less OK, but wires which go to the engineroom to those big resistors were burnt more or less. Because copper wire conduct heat too good, we were forced to remove old tape a bit. After we removed a bit, we decided to remove all of it. Now it is easy to check out every single wire. We will build that damaged part and also remove badly done stereo installtion and replace it with ISO-connectors Checking burnt part of wireing
Starting point looks quite good in the picture
But it was not so good after all. Some parts were so dry, that tape was more or less loose.
Now it is easy to make all repairs. After that we will put there few rolls of Jaybird hockey tape, as usual [] One more 951 engine. That one belongs to my friend Harri, aka Neva. Quite stock, modified KKK with Garret compressor housing and wheel. Turbine is a stock KKK #8. AFM is replaced by Link MAP piggy pack.

Your friend Harri has a shiney badge panel, sir! Good reflections in that picture.
Yes, there are from left Peter, me & Arno [] Perhaps very warm & shiny finnish climate has something to do it as well. It's quite nice here, it's 10:45 at the moment and it' already 31C... They have promised almost 35C for to day. Good day for Class Reunion i have today.Nice to see people who you have met last time in the early 80's []
Had some spare time, so we started with my youngest son Peter to fabricate some "tuning" parts for eldest son's 951. We have seen several times in Jarmo's 968 turbo some B-pilar dressing items, so we wanted to have similar (or little bit better version). When you are on budjet, you do them by yourself. Well, just molds at the momet Peter puts som gealcoat on (no masks were used, because it was very windy)
first glassfibre & epoxy added
Borrowed some hightech tools from my wife Three sheets of glassfibre should be enough.
The finished product should look more or less like this
Let's see how our version turns out.
We have think about wheel possibilities, if my son skips 951 S oem wheels we are going to use this three piece forged 18" instead. Found a manufacturer which can produce them at "student-friendly-price"
This is another alternative, perhaps with black center section.
Also engine issue has been solved (engine was not included the deal when my son bought project). My son bought a 951 S engine from Alasdair in Scotland []

A friend of mine had a lot of trouble with a set of 3 piece split rims on a supra. They kept leaking and wrecked several tires. Finally after he re-built the re-built alloys himself and used some high temperature sealant they stopped leaking. Then a garage used the wrong tool to fit a new tire and it started leaking again. The whole affair dragged on over about a year and rather put me off the idea. Therefore I consider single mould replicas in some ways a better option than the originals.
Negative side of single piece replicas are their weight. A Keskin KT2 weights almost double of what this three piece weights. Veloce wheel is a little bit lighter. What is tempting of these three piece replicas is their price; FOB price is about 1100€/set We are more than happy for the deal we made with Alasdair, he sold the engine to my son for a very "student-friendly-price". Big thank You to Alasdair [] We have now most of the components to put car back together again. Just need to have our special suspension, which is under building process.Should have it very soon.

So what is the average weight of these 3-piece wheels? If it's between the original 16" Fuchs and the 17" Cup 1/2 then it should be good.ORIGINAL: os951 Negative side of single piece replicas are their weight. Yes they are 3-piece forged wheels, so bolts are needed. I am negotiating with manufacturer about the different width's and ET's. Wheels are available in 18"-19"-20" diameter. weights are about 8kg's fronts and 9.5kg rears depending a size. When we are set up, i offer to all of you the possibility to buy these wheels for the same price as we finns get them; i am not willing to be a wheels sales man, sell rather other parts [] Alasdair, pictuture looks nice ! Waiting forward to receive the engine []
We picked up about 50KG's of various parts from plater's shop. These has been plated with new liquids which does not contain chrome-6, which is now not allowed to use within EU countries. The shade of color is not as yellow as it used to be with "good-old-toxic" liquids. Now waiting to have the rest of the pieces from powder coater's.

Interesting - I was wondering why the new outer ARB droplinks I bought from Porsche were no longer that nice yellow passivate colour. Thanks for the info - great work, as ever!ORIGINAL: os951 We picked up about 50KG's of various parts from plater's shop. Showed CS wheels to a friend who have nice CNC machinery. Unfortunately his machines are too small for bigger parts like wheels, so we had to find another solution. Local wheel shop usually do a decent quality job, so let's see how son's wheels turn out. All the wheels need to be restored, one wheel even needs a little bit welding since there is missing a 1cm x 0.5cm piece. So some welding and CNC machinery should fix them up. Don't know is this cheap or not, they will charge us 50€/wheel. After that i will have wheels re-anoidzed. Plater's shop told me that the surface might be a little bit yellowish with their clear stuff. Let's see how it looks out. If there is a yellowish shade, then we will remove anoized and have wheels powdercoated with clear powder. Now just have to wait about two weeks to get wheels back. This is the worst wheel:
