Young man's first Porsche aka project 951

This is brilliant - a nut and bolt rebuild will surely make this the best 951 anywhere in the world when completed.

Olli - do you have a timescale of when you think or want the car to be complete? Truely brilliant.

We don't have any schedule. We do it when we want, we are not in the hurry. Too much side projects going on, like building a small log cabin for quests at our summer cottage in the Finnish lake area. I am also in the middle of building my own 951 like my E30 BMW as well, then i need to take care my business as well... etc etc. hope there would be more hours in one day [:)] To finish heater/AC unit is used the following stuff: -Washing with Fairy, should be easily available in UK [;)] -Cleaning/Polishing, Johnson Pledge, Citron stuff -Painting, Motip semi gloss black -Cleaning metal parts, with cheapest soap steelwool -New white sealing; old fashioned stuff which is meant to seal windows & door in your house. Most of this stuff is nowadays made from rubber, managed to find oldfashioned stuff made in Poland from a local market.Total need is 6M for one AC/heater unit. So most of this stuff came from my wifes stock; all except paint & door seal. [:D]

Had some fun last weekend, so not progress in the project. PCF main event was at Ahvenisto race track. Here’s few pictures(some of my friends are in these pictures. Two kids with red caps are my younger sons) I took. Neva checks tire pressure. Peter & Arno give their advice.

Looks like there is a Finnish section to Mark and Niels team in Maritime Blue. Some of those cars look very good - love the clear light covers, how are they to drive behind? Thanks for the photos Mike

Don't know about the driving with those lights, we have currently almost 24H sunshine up here [8D] Just now 30C because it's almost 19.00 a'clock, so it's getting colder [;)]

Sooooooo impressed with our Finnish cousins and their Porsche [:)] We need to organise a bit of a visit one day (preferably in summer when they get the almost constant daylight)

Perhaps we can arrange some kind of meeting in the future. On last weekend's PCF's yearly main event were visitors from Sweden, Estonia & Russia. About those headlights, they are available also commercially, but i suppose it's not allowed to advertise on this forum.

My god! You boys don't mess about over there do you! First I read the part where you created a better than new heater matrix then I saw the pictures of your friends cars! Those first two engine bays looked unbelievably impressive! I notice the second car has even moved to the 70mm 928 throttle body, what kind of power are those cars producing? Love the stealth (rough black) finish on the engine parts of the first car. You boys are very serious about your cars over there! We should definitely have an international meet somewhere, possibly even a Nurburg ring gathering or something?

Black engine belong to my friends Arto's 951. It is equipped with finnish made Tatech enginemanagement system.Charger is (modifed here in Finland) KKK 27/6 with enlarged turbine housing and Holset turbine/compressor wheels. It's Arto's track toy, for street he have even nicer red 951 with 3.0L engine. Black car's (1985 Graphite 951) produce mild 304 hp, it's tuned that low for extra safety.White car/engine is my friend's Tommy's. Engine is totally rebuilt recently featuring Wossner pistons etc. Throttel body is from BMW E34 535I. Car have a Link MAP piggy pack, charger is modified here in Finland; it's a KKK 27/8 with Holset wheels & saft. Car produce about 340hp. Quite many finns are heading to the Ring in August/Septemper; don't remember the exact days.

K27/8 is probably my ideal non BB turbo size, there's a guy here who runs that combination and his car has a superb delivery and power band. Those numbers were lower number than I was expecting, I assume that must be at the wheels? I would be very interested in making the trip to the ring with other 944 enthusiasts this autumn if the dates work. I've only ever been there as a spectator at the 24hr. Beautiful location. ..obviously I know the track like the back of my hand from the Xbox so should be able to pull out a sub 8min first lap[;)][:D] only kidding I wont get the track closed for the day honest.[:)]

Yes those are rwhp figures. Tommy, owner of that white 951, has driven 8.30 on Ring (BTG) with this 951. Arto, owner of that Graphite 951; owns more powerful 951 for street. They have measured over 500 rwhp from his 3.0L 951.

500rwhp that's insane! How has he managed that and what does the power curve look like? My old 3.2 is only running 420hp at the flywheel now. That's barely over 350rwhp

At 1.8 bar with normal Shell 100+ octane. Key to figures like that are proper engine management system (Tatech), Holset charger, wildy modified 2.7 L head with Chevy valves, Gruppe951 adjustable cam gear & Dbilas cam and S2 block with Andial 104.5mm Mahle pistons connected with Finnish made PO-Metal connecting rods. Normal street pressure he use is about 1.2 bar. Here's engine of Arto's red 951 before Tatech installation

Ok, thanks for the details. Do you know Oli how much power it makes at 1.2 bar? I doubt it would last long at 1.5 bar [&:]

Pffff.... Pathetic ...[:D]
