964 Trackday 2011 (group booking) GREAT day out!

ORIGINAL: DJ Marky Mark Would have loved to have been there, but clashes with F1 at Silverstone and already have tickets. Please do more of these, especially North of Warford Gap. Apologies for not being able to support this event, but will be there next time.[]
Sorry about that. I knew about the clash but the offer of a summer Sunday bang in the middle of the racing season, to give us a chance of a good turnout and weather, was too good to turn down.

UPDATE The date of the trackday has had to be changed to Sunday 24th July Unfortunately, Donington Park circuit have cancelled our original date of 10th July. It's very rare that this happens, but the venue have agreed a long-term contract with a major publishing company to offer car shows on the site and the only date they could agree on this year was the 10th July. This does sadly mean our event cannot go ahead on the original date. The circuit have offered us Sunday 24th July 2011 as a replacement date and this does have one minor advantage in that it now avoids the clash with the British Grand Prix! Additionally, we have negotiated with the circuit to ensure we can hold the price of £250 for all Porsche & Boxa.net drivers and should be able to run this event with fewer cars - hopefully keeping it exclusive to the clubs. Your options are as follows:- 1) Move your booking to the 24th July 2011. As a goodwill gesture we will provide a photo CD with all your images from the event free of charge. 2) Take a credit note for the full amount paid to be used against any other BaT event on the calendar. 3) Take a refund to your credit card. In the short term all bookings and provisional bookings have been transferred to the new date but please reply to the e-mail that Bookatrack has sent you to let them know your preferred option as soon as possible. Once again, please accept Bookatrack's and my sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. Especially if you can't make the revised date. Steve

Well it looks like that those who can't make the new date have now cancelled, however, looking at the original list of those who expressed interest in this day, a lot have not made their minds up yet. So come on chaps, don't let me down after I've put in all this effort to set this up for us. For those wanting to stay the night before, the Hilton at East Midlands airport is only 10 minutes from the circuit and does double rooms for £49 + £5 parking. A few, including myself, will be staying there so that we're fresh for the trackday.....depending on the number of beers the night before [;)].

I have rebooked for the 24th so thanks again Steve. now all I need is to get the seat lowered so I can fit the crash helmet without having to open the sunroof :) Ian

Hi Guys I booked for this today (though the online payment system doesnt seem to be working....I will call them next week) Should be good. Be the first time on track for me (not ever but in my own car with people trying to get past) so I have booked an instructor session at 10.30. I am just looking to get out and have some fun on track with other 964 owners. I will most likely come up the sat eve as well so Boxsey I will investigate the Hilton where you are staying and have a beer with you [:)]. Appreciate the effort to set it up. PS: I am same boat as Ian re: getting the seat down to fit with helmet as am quite tall...i hope the sunroof open option is viable on the day ;) I will try and grab a helmet before hand and see how to make it work. Will just hire one on the day. PSS: Boxsey - I saw from your post on Rennlist that a decat with gpipe is ok re: noise regs. So should be good as thats what i have. PSSS: Is insurance a "must have" - what are others doing? I dont have it with my current insurance but will check with insurer just in case. AC

Great to hear you've booked Andrew [:)]. Your booking is showing on the list but I agree it is worth calling to check that all has gone through. If your insurance company allows extra payments for trackdays then it's good for peace of mind. Mine, Classicline, charges on average £50 for a trackday and the excess is 10% of the car's value. I just have to call them about a week before to get a cover note.

Bump....Still plenty of places available [:)] ChrisW and myself will be there at an evening session on Monday 9th May for an extra Donny fix [8D]

Great news that date change, I can now make it.....................booked this morning! Thanks for the gentle nudge Steve in my other thread....

Great news Ade [:)]. Sifly has also booked in the last few days (but doesn't trust himself in the turbo so will be bringing his Golf chase car [:D]).

Watching Carrera Cup at Donnington on TV today.............1'07" laps...............anyone feeling ambitious at our session in July? Thought not! [:D]

Absolutely not [:D] 964s in PCGB championship spec go round there in something like low 1'20"s......which is a LOT faster than I do [8D]

Only just over a couple of months to go now and 18 spaces left. Here's a couple of videos of my outing on Monday evening to get you in the mood [:)] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubZEPK8w9To http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPH9rntFgFY

Steve - 3rd and 4th gear only required ? Makes for less worry I might go 5th - 2nd etc. !!! Great circuit and really looking forward to this one. Ian

5th not needed - the closest I get to it is at the braking point for the chicane where I'm just creeping over 6,000 rpm in 4th. You could go down to 2nd for both coppice and the chicane but then you'd have to shift up just after the apexes or sit close to the limiter until you get to the exit. So I think 3rd is the faster way for those corners. Most instructors advise that it's a 3rd and 4th gear circuit for our cars, unless you get slowed by some traffic (as seen at the chicane when there is an MX5 in the way in the first vid).

Ian May join you if you are going, however not sure about the taking mine on the track on this occasion....just would not mind spectating and being a passener if someone allows!!
