Let's hope Andrew K has read this post as he made the same swap from the 1st ever customer SpYder to a 430 SpIder and could give you the plus and minus on both points keeping or swapping to an Italian[8D] One thing for sure your service, warranty and brakes will cost mega bucks on one Ferrari v 2 Porsche's[]ORIGINAL: MrDemon :-( I could run a F430 for the cost of running these 2 which is tempting and prices are stable on those now.
Makes sense the Ferrari must be very tempting![8D]ORIGINAL: MrDemon is it time to sell ? A lot of people sell when a car will be due a lot of major items. I can see a big spend looming, warranty renewal, new pads all round (bigger on PCCB) and will be due the major service in March. Circa 3k will I get 3k back if I sell next year, nope, people only ever look at the price they are buying at, never what you are offering on top of normal sale. means I could sell 2k cheaper and still be 1k up as the pads warranty and service are all 6 months away , but I will sorn the car end of this month so will not be used anyway. it's very tempting to sell it as next year all the same will be due on the R also plus tyres, so that could see costs at 9k to keep both inc insurance. 2 x major service and 2 x warranty, 1 set tyres, 2 x tax, 2 x insurance, 1 x full brake pads £800 I kid you not, 2 x brake fluid change. :-( I could run a F430 for the cost of running these 2 which is tempting and prices are stable on those now.
A friend not only bought his 360 Spider privately he didn't have it checked over first [] He liked the seller who came across as a very open honest gentleman and he contacted the last dealer who serviced the car a few thousand miles back and then let his heart rule his head and went ahead and parted with the cash there and then[&:] He had a few hundred mile drive back home worrying all the way about this noise that noise as you do with a new used toy [] He got the car checked out by his chosen specialist and the report back was nothing major wrong, seems a very honest example, and although there were things to do they were all the typical Ferrari 360 glitches that occur from time to time due to age, wear and tear So his rash purchase ended happily and although he had allowed £xxxx thousand for any immediate possible repairs fortunately he didn't have to part with much of his sinking fund from day one Buying a used Ferrari privately wouldn't be a deal breaker for me but a lot of serious due diligence would have to be done first. Buying from the seller can give you a good insight into how the car may have been treated by the seller but buying from a dealer you have absolutely no idea at all[&o]ORIGINAL: MrDemon who buys a Ferrari private ?
Indeed. I'd always buy private. In general I don't particularly like buying cars from dealers. If you buy from the owner you get a feel for them and how they might have treated the car. As the bonus is that you will generally be able to pay less and reduce your depreciation risk.ORIGINAL: jdpef356 A Dealers second hand car is only someone elses second hand car! Ask yourself who knows the most about the history of the car?[8|]

Hi As a long time Porsche owner through Boxster,GT3, RS and Spyder I moved to the dark side, a F430 Spider. I would say that if nothing goes wrong and you are talking about consumables eg pads discs etc then the comparison is fair. Once you move out of wear and tear items the costs ratchet up eg manifolds are a weak point on 430's and are circa 7K from a dealer, I had a sensor fail on one of the front wheels that was 1K. major service circa is circa 2.5K, clutch circa 2.5K Also, the warranty on cars over a couple of years old only covers engine and gearbox so you rely on goodwill outside of that (I paid 1.5K towards new manifolds). So I would say when all is going well the costs are similar, but when you need something doing outside of warranty the F430 would be much more expensive; however you are talking about a much more expensive car when new. Happy to contribute more AndrewORIGINAL: MrDemon is it time to sell ? A lot of people sell when a car will be due a lot of major items. As you have said several hundred pages back now [][][] you can always buy a Spyder with hot chairs and then fit Recaro Poles which are far lighter than the Porsche option and can be purchased brand new for a thousand pounds http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/seats/recaro-pole-position-fibreglass-seatORIGINAL: MrDemon who are these cars aimed at as a lot of new owners seem on the ball now and many are past Lotus and caterham owners who want the Sporty bits esp seats and wheels Even PSE is a must have for buyers now..
Exactly as I feel except never having a Ferrari on my car CV doesn't worry me as much as the potential bills they can come with[] as expressed above by Andrew's experience on repairs to date during his first years ownership One thing for sure I think any true Spyderman will always miss his example when it goes and £ for £ is their anything out there that can deliver so much for so little outlay and so little upkeepORIGINAL: MrDemon I doubt I have the guts to do it though, it just seems to scary and the Spyder is my baby.
Yawn, how heavy is a buss and does it matter what colour the said buss is?ORIGINAL: MrDemon only 4 lemons left for sale now lol, 3 of which don't even have Spyder wheels !!!!! The only Spyder wheel car is PDK., and it had AC and normal seats, it must weigh as much as a buss and is 43k !
If the White Spyder with the RED interior wrong wheels and additional white colour coding to interior could find a home then IMO anything on offer today could tooORIGINAL: VvrooomMYawn, how heavy is a buss and does it matter what colour the said buss is?ORIGINAL: MrDemon only 4 lemons left for sale now lol, 3 of which don't even have Spyder wheels !!!!!
