Good to hear from you Andrew, once a Spyderman, always a Spyderman and you are still included in the member's list [ORIGINAL: Andrew Killington Hi As a long time Porsche owner through Boxster,GT3, RS and Spyder I moved to the dark side, a F430 Spider. I would say that if nothing goes wrong and you are talking about consumables eg pads discs etc then the comparison is fair. Once you move out of wear and tear items the costs ratchet up eg manifolds are a weak point on 430's and are circa 7K from a dealer, I had a sensor fail on one of the front wheels that was 1K. major service circa is circa 2.5K, clutch circa 2.5K Also, the warranty on cars over a couple of years old only covers engine and gearbox so you rely on goodwill outside of that (I paid 1.5K towards new manifolds). So I would say when all is going well the costs are similar, but when you need something doing outside of warranty the F430 would be much more expensive; however you are talking about a much more expensive car when new. Happy to contribute more Andrew

If there is no 981 Spyder then I think we can safely suggest circa 2023 for jnr classic statusORIGINAL: jdpef356 So what is a Porsche Classic? Food for thought. Take a look at the following Photos of this years Classics at the Castle - Hedingham:- http://www.sportscardigest.com/porsche-classics-at-the-castle-2013-report-and-photos/ Not a Spyder in site but come twenty odd years the Spyder could well make an appearance in the line up[]
