Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

ORIGINAL: spyderwhite
ORIGINAL: Mayhem911 Just to add another into the mix, another Basalt black Pdk, this one has just arrived at Solihull Opc.
high price for wrong wheels but it is a 2012 model year!
That car sounds like the one Shirleys had for sale all summer!

Looks like it on the money for a OPC car but that is still 9K dearer than the Belfast car, still with wrong wheels and 10K more miles ...Mine is a 9/11 61 plate with 5.5K miles and still 21months warranty on it and if it was for sale i would be looking for around that price as well .

That car sounds like the one Shirleys had for sale all summer! [/quote] Yes i thought it sounded very familiar!! Salesman tells me its a paddleshift, i seem to remember the one at Shirley's being the rocker type switch on the wheel, if my memory serves me right.cant be to many Basalt black 11 plate Pdk spyders around the solihull area!!

Brian I think a quick call or email may confirm it is no longer with them as it has been off Piston and Autotrader for many weeks now[&:]

Mayhem - What's your ideal spec, I am considering moving mine on in the spring but it's largely going to be parked up as I'll use the other car as much as possible over the winter. Could work in both our favours as the wife wants an MX5 - it would be a good time to buy. I still have 14 months Porsche warranty. My PM doesn't work on here!

Hi, I am seeking a car that has bucket seats, pdk, spyder wheels( preferably not white, as it's stable mate is white) prefer a few creature comforts personally, although understand this goes against the ethos of the car,low mileage car with Porsche service history is preferable. I would say pm me the details (is it working??)regards Stuart

Our club night was hosted at PC Wilmslow this month and they put on a good night. They had 4 engineers demonstrating the removal of a gen 1 997 Carrera engine and gearbox in the quickest time possible. Just after they started we were told that dinner was being served upstairs so feel free to go eat and come back if you want. I chose to go and eat[8D]. The guys excelled themselves and by the time I got back, the engine and gearbox was on the table[]! 15 minutes and 44 seconds I believe! Impressive. Don't expect your service times to be shortened. I would recommend they double their hourly labour rate if you want them to work that hard at that pace[;)] I won a gold rimmed Porsche mug in the attendee raffle. Very nice[:)]. I could've taken the champagne but I wouldn't have ended up drinking it, so I think I took the 3rd prize despite my number being pulled out 2nd. A special deal for those on the night who happened to need their warranty extending was perfect timing for me and has saved me a lot of money. Very happy[:)]. Was good to catch up with RobK, JamieW, Dean and Hasan from R18 alongside all my regular R5 buddies - you know who you are[;)] Below is a picture of a old car that they purchased for a restoration project.

Cecil,I presume the "old car" has had some "stage" make-up applied-also I am sure it was 4 Technicians who removed the engine & not engineers--engineers are members of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers ie ;like me with many qualifications-however don't encourage anybody to increase hourly rates just because it was impressive-just remember how quickly transmissions are replaced on rally cars at service halts. Sounds a bit "picky" that so apologies -good & interesting post -I wish I had realised as I would have gone-however already have 2 such mugs-so your prized prize would have been safe. You should brought the Spyder to Oulton Park on Tuesday-was originally a Porsche open pit lane day but become an open event--£119 all day but greasy in the morning-I didn't use the 924S but shared my son's Eunos what a hoot particularly when it dried out pm-virtually the track to yourself. Had many pax laps with Andy in his CaymanR.

Hi Colin, yes I presume technicians[:)] I used to be a member of the Institute or Electrical Engineers as they were the called, when I graduated from university and initially had planned to work towards chartered status but then my career moved further and further away from traditional Electronic/Electrical engineering. I was still an engineer of sorts up until my last job change a few years ago which then made me a consultant but the definition of that word is even wider ranging than engineer I think! I'm not recommending OPC's put their prices up, but I can see someone referring my post to an OPC and saying that if you can demonstrate taking an engine and gearbox out in 15 minutes, why are you charging a number of hours for a particular piece of work. The naivety would make me sigh deeply. I don't know if other club regions get the same level of support from their local OPC but PC Wilmslow do a great job of supporting R5 at multiple regional events each year I hope to be at another track day next year. I also hope to get a ride with Andy[;)] At Evo triangle, by the time I had settled into a rhythm and out of stone firing range of the car in front, Andy was out of sight!

The old car does of course have some staging around it but they said it was found in a barn and has not yet been cleaned. So i'd go as far as saying the dust and rust are authentic[;)].

Didn't realise you'd chosen the mug over the champagne you daft sod! You could have given me the champers and I'd have bought you a mug!! Good to see you all the same. Get that Spyder washed [;)]

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: I'll know for next time[:D] I parked it way round the back and you still spotted it[]:ROFLMAO: And then you were all there peering into the Ferrari dealership window when I was heading off in a dirty car. I shouldn't have called to you guys as I could have sneaked out while you were all transfixed on the Ferraris[:D]

And I usually don't win anything. I was standing next to the chap who was going to take me for a test drive. He said "are you ready to go?" I said "I never win anything but i'll stick around." Then my number came up! I need to play the lottery and say the same thing[:D] Yeah I won a Spyder model that R6 night. I was buzzing![:D]
