Back in one piece[:)] And I got my Spyder back today[8D]. OK, so I didn't say it was away, but I wanted to ensure there was a happy ending before talking about it. As I joined a motorway on Sunday morning from a set of traffic lights I went for a shift to 2nd after 1st and as I went back on the throttle the revs soared. Ok, I'd missed the gear I thought. Went for 3rd instead and got it but somewhere in between missing 2nd and going for 3rd (don't remember exactly at what point), I felt a clunk through the gear lever. After getting 3rd now the lever wasn't attached to the gear box and went limp. Stuck in 3rd I turned back home. I thought the disconnection was at the lever as I had felt the clunk. Back at home Porsche Assistance (RAC) looked under the gaiter to find the lever still connected to the rod. So the disconnection must have been at the gearbox end. I politely told him to give up at that point as you won't get anywhere near the gearbox from above. The car was quickly collected to be delivered to PC Bolton on the Monday. A replacement car was delivered in a couple of hours and minimised the disruption. Picked up the car today and it was just a snapped cable as I had hoped. I was just 5 days into my extended warranty, which came in handy with the recovery as well as the repair. Don't know how much this claim has clawed back of the £660 but all's well that ends well[:)]. Does anyone know if it is fairly common?

You broke a Spyder!!! [] Not heard of that before. Glad it's all fixed. Mine gets a new windscreen on Thursday and I am bricking it in case they cock it up somehow. Annoyingly Bolton OPC refused to help me - thought they'd be able to make a few quid on the screen at least. Autoglass doing it courtesy of Porsche insurance, genuine OEM screen has delayed it a couple of days. Keeping fingers crossed...

Bit of a fright for Flat 6 - glad to here it all ended well. Daro well no doubt be delighted to see nothings missing - best Chrimbo present he could have![;)]

Wouldn't have happened if it was PDK[:-][:D] Autoglass did my Cayman. The central screw that holds the plastic down at the bottom of the screen was missing. Then at one corner it was sticking up, presumably the screw towards that end was overtightened. They carried the work out at their depot rather than on my drive, so they could have the best people on hand. When looking at how the rubber overlaps the A-pillars going up the side of the windscreen, you could tell that the screen wasn't dead centre as the rubber overlap was a different amount at each side. OK, I am very picky and I can't say whether another fitter would get it dead centre as I guess it's a one shot try when you drop it in with all the bonding glue around it. I didn't ask them to refit it. The Cayman had an auto-dimming rear view mirror with rain sensor. They use a clear glue to bond it to the screen. It had a big bubble at the rain sensor. They said the bubble would go and it did, but you could tell it wasn't factory it. OK, I am picky. Got a stone chip on the Spyder's screen and that filled me with dread after the above. Luckily it could be repaired. Anyway, just tell them you are very fussy so that they try their hardest to do their best.

And the funny thing is daro, he's never done a job on our road[:D] I got the warranty on a 'for-one-night-only' special deal. Didn't have to pay for the 111 point check or Porsche Assistance add-on, which saved me over £300 [8D]

Cheers John. My first concern was whether it would pull away in first as I wouldn't get all the way home without stopping. But it pulled away in 3rd with not too many revs so I didn't abuse the clutch at all. Was also concerned whether it would turn out to be a wear and tear item not covered by the warranty. And the major concern was whether it was the gearbox itself but I kept thinking 'cable, cable, cable' and hoped for the best [:)]

So a good reason to go PDK at long last :ROFLMAO: Rob whilst you explain you are very fussy and enter the car in beauty competitions it may help to be holding some folding whist explaining [:D]
