Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

ORIGINAL: CLIFFWILKINS A weight comparison between a Spyder wheel and  a Turbo 2 wheel would be interesting as the Turbo 2 wheel aint a bad looking wheel. On certain models and colours.
.... bet mine weigh less [;)]

Just looking at the Walter Rohrl interview on Pistonheads ( http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=29197) and noticed this comment "I've just ordered a Boxster Spyder with a manual shift......" Does he mean there's a new Spyder on the way......

ORIGINAL: Tracy Wilkins I see another Spyder up for sale at Sutton Coldfield with turbo wheels
what was the owner thinking [X(]

Some wheel weights here but not the turbo or turbo II. If someone finds them please post. Also note the different rim width. The Spyder rim is half an inch wider than the turbo II front and rear in the 987 version. So don't be quoting the turbo II version for the 997 turbo II! http://www.944racing.de/wheelweights.php Porsche did say at the time that the Spyder wheel was the lightest 19" wheel they make. Maybe still is? Can't access the official press release right now but so say others. http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/987CSPYD.html

Are you sure?...Have you asked the head of Porsche sports car design that question directly?[;)]

ORIGINAL: Rocket Man There are a lot of 911s out there in Martini colours, has there been anyone brave enuf to do a Spyder in those colours?
My son and I are planning this for Le Mans Classic! There's a guy on eBay that sells full decal kits for about £130.00 so thought it would be worth a laugh. Thinking of copying the 918 Martini livery. Would only be temporary as although I think it would be good fun for the trip to Le Mans I wouldn't want it on there all the time.

ORIGINAL: flat6 If some of the club's track enthusiasts are going to be elsewhere at Club motorsport events, it doesn't give the Angelsey track day a good chance of getting the numbers, does it? I presume all things considered they've decided it's still the best date, adjancent to Llandudno? But then again, many that go to Llandudno don't do track days because if we'd have had a quarter of the cars at Llandudno at the track it would have been oversubscribed...
I know it was difficult for Brendan to get a date to please everybody. I think his original proposed date clashed with another big club event and the circuit has plenty of other events booked too. Gutted that you and Andy can't make it though. On a separate note, I'm taking my Spyder to LeMans Classic. Martini livery for £130 is quite appealing!!

I hate to mention this but Walter R says "And the next predictable Porsche question; PDK in the GT3 - thoughts? [With a knowing smile] "Yes, during the press launch everybody was complaining and saying: 'Why?!' But I said, 'Be happy! Drive the car and you will see how much easier it is for you to go fast.' The shifting is something very impressive. I think most engine problems we have created because people were not able to watch the rev counter, watch the speed, and know when to shift. So they would shift back too early and the engine would be over-revving. With PDK, you avoid this. But for myself, if I want to buy a car, and I want to say I keep this car for the next 20 years, I would always take a manual gearbox, because I believe more, I trust more in a manual than in a double clutch. I've just ordered a Boxster Spyder with a manual shift - and I know that it's working, it's perfect, and it's up to me how I handle things. But PDK makes life easier for normal customers." Some very recent sad news.... Jensons Dad John Button has died http://www.itv.com/news/update/2014-01-13/jenson-buttons-father-john-dies-aged-70/

ORIGINAL: MrDemon yes we all know the best cars are manual, and PDK is for gayers , what's your point :)
What is the "Race Car" Avatar MrD?? Have you bought something? Or is it to pronounce the Spyder as the Comp car?
