I was at the Classic two years ago and really enjoyed it. You'll have a great time. Perhaps one of my favourite car events - the metal on show is incredible! There was an Aston that got rear-ended durin the "parade" laps last time and it did all seem a little out of control......ORIGINAL: Big EHi Rob, I've booked for the Classic as well, first time there. We are staying at the PH site at Blue Nord, be good to have Spyder twins down there! I'm debating buying a parade lap ticket because I've seen a few videos of bumps and scrapes on these laps, they're really just a free for all and that puts me off a bit. Anyone got any first hand experience of this? We've got a pretty good convoy heading down, Spyder, Countach, F430, Bentley Speed GT, E-Type and a couple of 911's. I think the Countach may take a bit of attention off the Spyder...... IanORIGINAL: rob.kellock It's on my bucket list, one day I will definitely go. This year my certificate of leave, signed in triplicate by the Mrs, has only been granted for the Le Mans Classic and PCGB day at Anglesey. I have discovered that if I book Classic Le Mans through Porsche Club France I can go and do a lap on the Saturday morning - for 150 Euros. On the one hand that looks very dear, on the other it's a small price to pay for a lifelong memory!

Can you still see that superb Cayman R? Yeah, it's not so far ahead!
This one's for you prof. Decision made for you, if that's what a base Cayman can do, imagine pitching it against the Spyder or an R! [link]http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=rgO0ir7DPLc&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DrgO0ir7DPLc%26feature%3Dyoutu.be[/link]
I'd have thought that a 3-400kg weight saving would've translated to and advantage over the base Cayman. No surprises that the Porsche is better engineered in every way. But all logic goes out the window when you consider buying an Alfa. You buy an Alfa with your heart not your head. You just have to look at it and decide if you like the look. Then you forgive it any shortcomings and buy it anyway[&:] If the the look doesn't grab you then granted it won't get a look-in[] So, I'll tell myself that on the road its weight, speed and roll advantage will make me a faster driver than in a 981(even if on the track in the hands of a professional it does nothing[&:]!) and I will forget whatever I have ever said about the importance of good braking[&:] Then if its a bad experience you return to Porsche with more appreciation than you did before. Makes sense? No? Well that's what buying an Alfa is all about[&:] It's either in your genes to occasionally extract some sense from nonsense, or it isn't[&:][8D] Just look at it! It's like Angela Merkel meets Carla Bruni[8D][]
I like the looks, but the lotus style interior and only have a 4 pot engine fart box puts me right off. And if they think the steering feel is even worse than a new cayman , it has to be Awefull, I cannot stand the new electric porsche steering over our Spyders and R's. Auto only puts the final nail in the box for me. We will all be driving auto by 2010 and heavy weight ones with added battery's , I am keeping what I have for now. All this bull about cars getting lighter when all cars will have motors and battery's is funny from the mags. And when the 4 pot Boxster comes out , well that will be a say day.
