There‘s a bit in Katie Price’s “autobiography“ where she talks about being diddled by her current boyfriend/husband/whatever on the boot floor of her Range Rover in a layby and how it was lovely because it was heated.

For someone with no discernible talent, she has done very well for herself, she must have been well managed. And judging by her video, I'd have thought most average people would be out of their depth...

I think it's all in the name, 'Katie'.. for example, Katie Price and Katie Hopkins... I rest my case...[:D]

Currently, my car is at my son's for a general check over, one ball joint needs a new boot, one inlet manifold gasket had failed and a general tune up is being done before I drive it up to Northfolk next week. He has had the car since Friday and I have his van which I used to take my loco to an event over the weekend. Anyway, the reason for the post, my kids have a WhatsApp page set up which I'm not privy too, it's their own place to speak without mum and dad getting involved. Well, one of my other son's let slip to my wife this morning about a comment Richard had made. Evidently, it involved the words 'My God dad's car is fast'... well at least that answers the question as to whether he's using it daily while I have his van...:)

So it seems Stuart, I guess as the owner once you've driven it for a while you get used to the power, my wife teased him last night. Asked, 'so dad's car is fast?' the reply was it scared him, he was pinned so hard to the seat it was a case of hanging on for dear life, these are his words and he's driven some serious machines. She then asked, 'faster than Pete's RS?'?? this is a bit of usual banter between me and son number 2 as Pete is always trying to tell me how his RS is faster. Richard's reply was...' they aren't even in the same league, dad's would leave him for dust' I can't wait for the next time Pete pops over....:):) Richard's words have plenty of weight as he had been driving Pete's car for a couple of weeks before taking mine Friday and since Pete had complained that Richard was driving his car like a nutter I guess the comparison is factual...:)

Shame I'm too old to drive it fully now...lol

This morning is the first time I've driven the car since Richard tinkered with it.

Wow, what a transformation in the handling, the problem with these cars is they are so well built/designed that when parts fail you don't always notice. For example I hadn't noticed that the two added downlinks to the front ARB had snapped, nor that the koni's were soft. My son repaired the downlinks and added strengthing ribs, those damn sleeping policeman at work I bet. So the car feels totally planted, the replaced inlet manifold gasket has cured the slightly lean AFR, it wasn't out by much, say 14.9 to 15 1 but lean nonetheless, all good now. When my son had told me about the failed gasket I did wonder if this had something to do with the increased lag of late?

No, it wasn't, so I checked the EBC settings to see if anything had changed, first setting to check of course was the duty cycle.

Yep, that was the problem, for some reason it had dropped to 70%? . I can't remember doing this intentionally and can't see how it could change on its own?

Anyway, put it back to 85% and the quick response and very low lag has returned...super...😃😃

Several people, including Jon Mitchell have posted that reinforcing the ARB drop links, stops the ARB working properly.

I removed my ARB stiffeners Pete, car was too rigid and handled like a barge with them on. Huge difference. I suppose it depends on how stiff the additions are, I had the SAR technologies ones and they were very chunky.

Stuart

Yes.. I've heard the stories...I've been happy with them...even more so now they are fixed...🤣🤣 although I suspect stiffening up the koni's is where the biggest gain has come from.

I made up some really beefy brackets, much thicker flat bar than the ones for sale. The Porsche brackets aren't designed to mount the bar rigidly, for a reason.

Well, all I can say is the handling is transformed... pinpoint steering and oh sooooo smooth...I'm a happy bunny and looking forward to a long drive north Saturday..:)

So I am away for a week and naturally took the car...what a joy to drive. Living in London where there are no long empty roads you forget just how good these cars are on the open road. Eveyone sbould drive a well sorted 951 at least once in their life, it should be on everyone's bucket list..🙂🙂

Forgot to add...new high score RPM when hitting limiter in 2nd...7254....I guess I'm having too much fun...🤣🤣

The car just seems to be getting faster and faster or at least that's how it feels. Today on the way to my engineering club I had been frustrated being stuck behind someone hogging the outside lane at 80 heading north on the A1. Turned off at my junction for the A414 and waited for the lights to go green. I pulled off gently on the tight left hand bend, nudged up to second and floored it...well actually the data showed only 70 % throttle but it shot off like a scalded cat and immediately hit the rev limiter where I changed up to 3rd, still on the tight bend. All I can say is OMG, which funnily is exactly what my son told his brothers a few weeks ago when he had the car for a few days. He was blown away by how quick the car is. Perhaps I need to increase the red line a little, the engine felt like it had more in it than the currently set 7200? or was it just that it hit the tev limiter so damn quick?

Boost hit today was 1.65 bar and felt as strong as a train.

Anywsy, hope you guys out there are enjoying your cars as much as I do mine...:)

Pete

How disappointing, I was hoping to hear you had smoked a Bugatti Chiron of some sort... :ROFLMAO:[;)]

Not quite that fast but I bet she's a 4 sec car, probably less with an extremely fast top speed, 100 comes up pretty fast too...:)
