Building a 400bhp+ 2.5 ltr 944 Turbo

I reckon a drag strip might make interesting comparisons between the different ways these old cars have been modified. The headline numbers don't always play out in real life.

I can proudly say that my car has never been thrown around a track...such antics result in poor paintwork..🤣

It has however been on the strip a couple of times, many moons ago when it had 280 bhp. I learnt then that my rear shocks were bad...I mean our cars are known for squatting but mine as one observer said looked like the space shuttle at launch. I do have a photo somewhere taken by the resident photographer....it certainly did have its nose pointing skywards...🤣🤣

Despite my bad launch I still knocked half a second off standard spec and also crossed the line at more than 10mph faster....today's car would give a totally different result...I'm a bit old for such antics now...I leave that stuff to my boys...:)

That pink paint isn't very durable. Haven't you already painted it once, and plan on having it done again?

Yep..may be a year or two...wife is paying as a present...need to move and get the new house sorted first...car is bottom of thr list right now.

That's how it starts, moved house 20 months ago, and put the car in one of the double garages. Don't think I've driven it on the road since...

Don't tell me that Paul....I'll start having nightmares...🤪🤪

Wow...nearly a year since last post here...just to say the old girl is still going well and not looking too shabby considering how tired the paint is. The good news is that she's booked in for a respray this coming September. Hopefully I'll then get out to a few merts, its been a while..🙂

Took the old girl to Wales for 5 days this week, great trip with the car performing flawlessly. Fantastic roads in Wales, perfect for a 944, some steep climbs too putting the engine under very heavy load in some of the tight curves going up the mountains. If there was ever a place to test one's engine, the welsh mountains is that place...🙂

No need to tell me I live in gods country
It's a beautiful part of the world, one that we used to visit annually prior to covid, this is our first time back since and we had missed it greatly. We shall return, rest assured...🙂

Visited the company who's painting the car today, very nice setup. Was introduced to the fabricator and paint guys who will be working on the car. Car goes in next month, stopped off at my local Bistro for a cold drink. I'll miss this car while its away..

As you've had it painted before, isn't there enough paint thickness, to have it machine polished?
